Ketanji Brown Jackson

I know this is simply an emotional reaction - there's experience, background, etc., to consider - but I saw her talking about her nomination and she just seems like a wonderful human being.

She was a public defender. That right there is a big mark in her favor.
Or the biggest mark against her if you’re a Republican. They already tried the “did you defend the terrorists at Guantanamo?” question at a hearing for the lower court seat she occupies. Apparently, being a public defender is a crime in the Republican version of America.

She was confirmed to the DC Circuit with 53 votes, three of them from Republicans. Paul Ryan (yes, that Paul Ryan) praised her as a worthy addition to the DC District court years ago. So I expect the GQP to raise holy war and fight as much as possible. Hoping it'll be all for naught as she makes history this summer.

I thought there was a slight chance that Obama would make her his third nominee to the Supreme Court. But he chickened out and foolishly thought the moderate Merrick Garland would win enough support to fill the seat left by Scalia's unexpected death. Given what TurtleTroll did, it probably was a good thing that KBJ wasn't nominated for the Supremes in 2016. It would have likely killed any chance for her to make it to the Supremes later.

My fav pick for 2016, Sri Srinivasan, will probably become the 1st Asian member of SCOTUS with the next vacancy (assuming it's before Biden's term ends and/or TurtleTroll doesn't become Senate majority leader once again).

I think being qualified for the position is the real crime for Republicans.

I think they called tucker Carlson for their fact finding so they could ask good questions. Woman senator from Kentucky I think was just going on about CRT and definitions of a woman. all the fear mongering GOP talking points that need flushed down a toilet.

There were a lot of questions about how she handled cases involving child pornography. That from a party that embraces a morally bankrupt sexual predator who paid hush money to a porn star while cheating on his third wife (as he had done with his previous two). And of course they implied that she is "soft on crime" while they supported someone who encouraged an insurrection. Their hypocrisy is so transparent but I guess it works with their base of deplorables.

I thought it was pathetic to see old white guys lecturing her as if they care so deeply about child porn. They came across as obsessed with it. And before they asked such disgusting questions, they praised themselves for not ambushing her like the evil Dems did to Kavanaugh. I thought Hawley was terrible, but Cruz and Graham displayed appalling behavior too.

PS - A number of sites are posting pictures of Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton hanging out with Josh Duggar… who is awaiting sentencing for his child porn convictions.

they are worried about child predators that they said nothing about all of trumps minions that got caught with child porn child sex child trafficking. Never a peep about gates. not a peep when trump said he walked into the teens locker room.

It is curious, isn't it? Brings to mind the adage that they accuse others of that which they do themselves.

Or to paraphrase the Bard, methinks they doth protest too much.

She appears to be more qualified than some already on the court. She has no “skeletons in her closet.” The biggest attacks on her are that she was a public defender (is that a bad thing?) and that she typically sentenced child porn offenders to similar sentences as most other judges?

Nobody could attack her on being unqualified or too liberal. That should tell you everything you need to know. Unfortunately, the party of “no” would vote against Solomon himself, if nominated by a Democrat.

Well, let them all make their speeches for the cameras, remind everybody that they are petulant children, and Jackson will be confirmed for the Supreme Court anyway.

Her last two votes includes at least a few Republicans, including the asshats performing for the cameras during these hearings (looking at you Ladybug Graham!!). The best revenge will be seeing her seated on the court soon.
