Gee, McConnell is such a disappointment to people who remember his having stepped up to the plate once in awhile to do the right thing for the country now and then.

For instance he stood up to assorted jackassery going on in the House while former GOP speakers Boehner and then Ryan were still trying in vain to keep the far right of the Republican Party from proving they were perfectly willing to drive the country over a cliff during budget negotiations.

Mitch McConnell might still be inclined towards that level of rescue operation, but otherwise his barely concealed racism and Trump-tolerant hyperpartisanship are a terrible blot on the US Senate leadership, like none other leader from either party that I can recall in my lifetime.
