For what it’s worth, the original HomePod sounds much better than the minis, so hopefully so do these version 2’s.

My feeling as well. Though the softball-sized $99 Mini for me punches above its weight.

I have a feeling HomePod 2 will sound no worse than the original, and might even be better now that Apple has more experience with audio.

I'd be interested to try out Spatial Audio on the HomePod 2. On my AirPods Max, it ranges from "meh" to mind-blowing. This person from TechRadar seems to like it:
