Hi Folks,

With everything going on in the world I'm trying to break out of Apples' walled garden somewhat (not leaving completely) but I don't want to put all of my dollars investment into a single company and practically speaking, I use (and like to have options) of multiple device types...
iOS, Android (Samsung s25 ultra) , iPad OS, Android Tablet (Galaxy Tab), Windows 11 pro, Mac OS, Ubuntu and Fedora.

One challenge that I have is that I have been using either Samsung Pass (works great) or Apple Passwords (also works great) - however both only work on a Android/Samsung/WIndows ecosystem and Apple ecosystem respectively.

I'm looking for a good password manager tool that is :
- Reasonably Priced.
- Cross Platform (including Linux).
- Can Detect and notify on Password breach.
- Elegant UI (I know that that can be subjective but I also want to make this available to my family and my wife tends to like 'simple' UI that does not overload her)
- Manage PassKeys
- Automatic form filling in Safari, Samsung Internet, Chrome on iOS and Android, Edge on iOS and Android,
- Ability to share.
- Ability to import from Apple Passwords and Samsung Pass.

To date, I've narrowed down contenders to :
- Bitwarden
- Nord
- ProtonPass
- 1Pass

What are your respective thoughts....

Are there other contenders that I have not considered?

Thanks,

Tom.

I primarily use 1Password, and have had a family account for about 3 years. Before that I had the individual 1Password product and didn't have any issues. I know that some find the subscription model to expensive and they are loyal to other product which I don't have much experience with.

Our CISO at work just completed a extensive RFP for a password manager/shared passwords/key manager, and he decided on 1Password. I was a part of their Alpha testing since I have a family account and now had to transfer my work vault password to the work instance. It was very painless and easy, and the deal they struck up got me a free family account as long as I am employed here. I signed up and got an partial credit for my unused annual account months.

Couldn't be happier.

I've been using LastPass for years now and it's okay but I've learned not to trust it 100%. There's nothing worse than going back to a site and having the login and PW not work for one of several possible reasons. I then have to login to LP and/or attempt to change the PW on the site, etc. leading to a rabbit hole of MFA and new complex pws.

In the end, for sites I really need on a regular basis I put them into a different app with a single PW that I know. Not as secure but that's the tradeoff for convenience, anytime LP (or the browser or whatever) recommends a secure PW with a "trust me it's all good" type of message I absolutely do not trust it.

I got this a lot, but I think it is more of a second verification thing.
