Pluribus (with spoilers)

Thanks. I was quite impressed when I first read that the cut-de-sac is a set. It makes sense given all the mayhem that's gone on there, though.
The production value of this show is some of the best I've ever seen and the fact that Gilligan is as against AI as he is does my heart good. The whole thing is a masterclass in set design, audio (try watching with headphones on for all the awesome nuances) and lighting. I foresee several nominations during award season.

The scenes in South America were especially beautifully done.

What Pluribus could've been.

Tonight’s episode is dedicated to @Eric.
You know me too well! :ROFLMAO:

Zosia is an absolute delight and her ability to disarm Carol is obviously a key to the show. Not sure where they're going with it but this was by far my favorite episode.

I’ve got you pegged.

There was a little look on Zosia’s face when she told Carol she was going to get a visitor. It seemed like fear.

They should be afraid, they just start getting Carol to come around and here comes Manousos like a bolder being thrown into their happy little pond. They can't write this guy off soon enough IMO but it keeps it dramatic I suppose.

I think he knows something about the hive that we haven’t been told yet.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Carol ends up protecting them? I can see it going that way.

At the very least, I’m sure the morality of the decision either way will get much more complicated before it’s all said and done.

I loved this episode.

What do y’all think about Zosia starting to speak in the first person singular when she was with Carol? Maybe it was just the hive mind trying to please Carol, but I wonder if it represented a partial disconnection. Could it be that the electrical bond between Zosia and The Others was overridden, even if only temporarily? If so, can it be used as a weapon?

It was also interesting to see the purpose of the tower in Africa confirmed and the origin of the alien signal disclosed.

Zosia still had a very AI bot vibe going, just doing everything possible to please Carol (and successfully) so that explains the obvious glitch when they knew Manousos was coming. He'll be the only one to empathize with her cynical side, there are a lot of ways this could go but it's fun speculating.

Thanks for that! My wife is from Albuquerque and it's been driving her nuts trying to figure out where that neighborhood is. Now she feels much better! :ROFLMAO:

A while back (pre BCS) we took a trip there and visited most of the big Breaking Bad locations. Interesting that this time around they built a set.

they seem to have poured a lot of money into the show. The stuff from south america alone must have cost them a ton.

My wife and I did that about 12 years ago and visited the car wash, Hank's and Walt's houses, the Disappearer's pickup point, the house Jessie and Jane shared, Twisters (Los Pollos Hermanos), and The Grove (Lydia's favorite cafe), where I snapped a shot of my wife putting stevia in her coffee.

We chatted for a few minutes with the then-owner of the place used for Walt's home exterior after a tour bus left, since I wanted to ask her permission to take some photos. She was super friendly and said there'd be no problem, as long as I didn't try to shoot her backyard or try to throw a pizza on the roof, which several people had requested.

Another highlight was our stop at The Candy Lady, who made some of the candy that doubled as crystal meth in the show for a while. I bought some in small brown paper bags, one of which I handed to one of my friends on a street corner back home. (It would have been funny if the police had driven by during the transaction.) I also got a Walter White pork pie hat, which I still have.

I saw this trailer just after it came out. Apart from the remote alien connection, I don't think it bears that much similarity to Pluribus, although the clicking sounds Emily Blunt's character made during her weather cast reminded me of the languages used by some people in Africa, the site of the tower.

I think when our alien overlords do eventually make it here and takeover that we should all just succumb, they can travel through space at warp speeds and are clearly more intelligent so they probably know what's best for us all.

Looks like we did it 13 years ago. Late September, 2012.

I think we hit most of those. I don't recall the pickup point or The Grove (though we might have gone to those). We also visited the laundry and the FBI building where Hank worked. Maybe some other places as well that aren't coming to mind at the moment. Oh yeah, we saw the building where Saul worked, though it was hard to recognize. Twisters was fun. I was excited to eat there and it was absolutely... ok. Nothing special, but it filled the belly.

I brought some home for my friends as well. I still have mine somewhere. I couldn't bring myself to eat it. It was too cool to eat. It's not like I can't find sugary candy in a bazillion other places.
