Heard a disturbing rumor about who did it.

EDIT: now being reported. “The deaths are being treated as a homicide; according to TMZ and People reports, the couple was killed by their son.”

How truly horrible!!! :( I'm sure most of us first remember him as "meathead" - Archie Bunker's liberal son-in-law, before he moved on to become such a phenomenal director.

Heartbreaking. He was a super-nice guy. How terribly tragic that they died at the hands of their son!!! :(

Really heartbreaking 💔!
I love all his movies and got to know him as a person, through interviews in the late shows.
Witty, smart and humble besides being a great director 😔

I’ll just say I miss the days when this wouldn’t have been a political issue at all, would not have been divisive at all.

This is a sad ending and shows how addiction can affect anyone. By all accounts, they did their best with a very troubled young man. Addiction is a b*tch.

I wish some other people would treat this seriously and make it not about them, because this is a much bigger issue than Rob Reiner and his wife, which alone would have been 24-hour news by itself without our dysfunctions elsewhere hogging the news cycle.

Rob Reiner did what you’re supposed to do - civil public discourse. And anyone who says he wasn’t talented is objectively wrong. Nobody lasts forever, but what a terrible ending. We’d all be wise to remember mental illness or addiction (which often go hand in hand) don’t target beliefs, wealth, race or political bend.

First degree murder charges and a hotshot defense attorney, surely paid for by the parents he so brutally murdered. Maybe the goal will be to keep him off death row?

Either way I see a lot of people out there showing sympathy for this killer as he has a mental illness, well no shit, anyone who would do that is sick. This psycho deserves the full extent of the law here.

Oh, I see it is Alan Jackson. Interesting. I’ve seen some interesting critiques and commentary about his performance in the Karen Reed matter. I do wonder how it would have gone for him had he not had buckets upon buckets of helpful evidence on his side. Not much room to maneuver in a case like this.

Not sure how it will all play out but it sounds like a brutally heinous attack that was planned and I'm sure it was as horrifying as one can imagine to the Reiner's. Insanity might be their best hope.

My “tv lawyer” observation is that I believe he is eligible for the death penalty.

I think the US needs to figure out (and quickly) whether we want to reform or punish prisoners, and at what point someone is no longer a redeemable member of society. Right now, the system is so broken that we are just housing prisoners in a Lord of the Flies experiment, where if they get out, the ex-con is no longer afraid of anything.

Nick's attorney would like to urge you all not to judge the man who sliced the throats of both of his parents while they slept too quickly. Won't you think about how this may negatively impact him?
