I haven't gone to a concert in ages, but when I find out about current tours one of two things generally happens. Either I just missed their local date or they are playing nowhere near the Bay Area which I usually find odd because there has to be fans here and there's no shortage of people who could afford the often offensive ticket prices.

On a related note, there was a video awhile back on the most expensive concert tours, not ticket prices but set up costs. According to Google AI now "The most expensive music tour setup was the U2 360° Tour, with a reported cost of up to $31 million per setup for its innovative "Claw" stage. Other expensive setups include Roger Waters' The Wall Live tour (around $10 million per setup) and Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour (around $2 million per show)."

when i had dinner with Rush on the Hold Your Fire tour, they were playing in a small arena in Binghamton NY, and I think the ticket was less than $50. And they fed me steak. Those were the days.

What an amazing experience that must have been! How on earth did you get to spend dinner with them?

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson getting back out there playing Rush’s hits is a moment to celebrate. For many of us, this Rush reunion is a personal and emotional moment after Neil Peart’s death, but there’s also a limit to how much fans can afford. Judging by the current ticket prices, that limit has been reached.

Seeing a lot of backlash on Reddit and FB, both over availability and price.

Looks like they are coming to San Jose Oct. 15 next year.

Anymore, we just wait and buy tickets through the aftermarket. Buying up front is frustrating, selection is mediocre (even with all the pre-sales perks from AMEX, etc.)

Eventually someone will have tickets, that they need to sell, and will offer them for not much more than the original purchase price.

We've done that for NIN, Twice, TOP, TD, etc., etc.

I'll roll the dice, take my chances later :D

Rush added a second San Jose date (my wife’s birthday! wouldn’t that be fun! (for me)). Not on sale yet, but somehow a bunch of tix are on sale via stubhub, and the prices are insane. $7000+ a ticket for 7th row. $4000 a ticket for >30th row. $500 a ticket for nose bleeds.

well, my wife convinced me, so I just bought two tix off stubhub for the oct. 15, 2026 concert. Row 12, center floor. Cost an arm and a leg, but I figure it’ll be the last concert I likely ever go to (she goes to concerts all the time without me. Takes our daughter usually).

If nothing else it'll be a nice bit of nostalgia, I mean nobody thought they would ever tour again.

yep. And other than the drummer, my wife will be the only woman there, so she’ll have a good time

Stubhub - this price is per ticket. for front row, left side of the stage (not center section).

That's a lot of money for 2/3 of Rush. There is also no way Geddy can sing most of these songs from 40 or 50 years ago anyway, this whole thing is more about nostalgia than anything and after giving it some more thought I would attend strictly for that reason if the prices weren't so outrageous.

How much is that per hour or per minute?

They typically go for about 3 hours, and Geddy said they will definitely go more than 2 hours this time.

Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing the little interstitial videos and things that they do. Plus I’m really curious how they change things up given the new personnel. But I was lucky to get the tickets I got at the price I got; I keep checking every day to see if I can upgrade further, and each day it seems the prices for the first few rows double.

For example, re: those $21,000 seats - 2 days ago you could get front row in the center section (so better than those), plus it included the VIP experience where you meet the band, etc., for $5000 each. If I’m paying $42,000, the band needs to come to my house and perform for me and my cat.
