Senator Cory Booker breaks the record for longest Senate speech of all time at over 24 hours

I watched many hours of this today. I have loved him since he was mayor. He was masterful today.

Fun fact. The last record holder was the racist's racist Strom Thurmond who railed against civil rights for black people for 24 hours and 18 minutes. As a result he was only kept in office for the next 47 years when his brand of racism died way back in 2003, ancient history.

Watching him on The Beat being interviewed now.

That was impressive. I caught the first couple of hours on and off, then the last couple live. Haven’t had a chance to scrub through the full thing but I was impressed by what I heard.

Far more impressive than Ted Cruz literally wasting time while offering no substance, and I’m sure it was better than whatever bile Strom Thurmond was speaking about nearly seven decades ago. So I would say Senator Booker actually accomplished something here, which is far more impressive than the length he spoke, which was also insane. I got on about my day and forgot he was holding the senate to a standstill before I got home, at which point he had been speaking 22 hours or so, which I found crazy to think of attempting.
