This case is really sad but it's nice to see they finally got some video of the guy. Really hope for the best for their family, it's great to see everyone getting behind them.

The fact that he tried to use a plant to cover the camera shows he was not only unprepared but is also probably not the sharpest tool in the shed. I mean in today's day and age who in their right mind takes a doorbell camera thinking the footage resides on it? By the time he ripped it off he was already recorded.

Well, if it’s true that they only were able to get the footage this morning, then he at least bought himself some time.

I would assume that by now the internet would have figured out who this guy is, though.

My guess is it took Ring this long to recover the lost (unsaved) data and the camera had nothing to do with it.

oh, definitely. just saying, apparently taking a ring cam can be at least somewhat useful if you’re planning on committing burglary (which, in common law, was entry into the dwelling of another at night with intent to commit a felony therein - not necessarily stealing anything - just in case you want to add it to your crime bucket list).

Imagine if we had an FBI that was run by actual professionals. What’s this, like the third clusterfuck by Kash so far?

My (wild) guess is that this was a white supremacist "Action" gone haywire.
Guthrie is an MSNBC anchor, right? So some genius has the idea to abduct her mom (as in - we can get to your loved ones anytime), but did not plan for her frailty. So the mom collapses at some point, and now they have to get rid of her body.
A ransom note is useful to muddy the waters - they obviously can't provide "sign of life".

Hope they get these crackers.

Not since 2010. She is currently the host of NBC's Today Show. And when this happened, Trump made a statement that she had always been fair with him. Lot more Trump haters to target before Guthrie.

What I can't wrap my head around is the focus on the other daughter's neighborhood. They have done almost everything but body cavity searches over there.

Yeah this seems odd and nobody's giving any explanation here.

We live in a surveillance state. We just need to accept it because I don't see anyway we are going back.
In my home it feels incredibly invasive but outside I don't care at all, I mean you can stand on a corner and see faces and license plates all day long, they're just automating it so I don't see it as a big deal.
