Trump's Trade War

While I don’t drink wine much (and we have St. Michelle just down the street from us), the spirits I have been drinking lately are French (rum and a couple liqueurs). So I guess I should stock up a bit here…

Trump has successfully stomped out the Conservative rise in Canada.

Pfft! Ford walked it back as soon as someone from Trump's administration called him down for a meeting.

He should have left it on until President Poopie-Pants quit this insanity.

I'm far from optimistic on Ford achieving anything. He's a simpleton Conservative that took money out of Education in Ontario to lower beer prices.

Eventually they all cave to king Oompa Loompa.

“Everything I believed was going to happen” under a Trump presidency has since gone the “opposite direction,” said a woman named Shannon wearing a Central Michigan University shirt.

“I thought he was going to change things with affordability and make things cheaper,” she added, “But by putting these tariffs in and terrorizing the world, now things are going to only get more expensive than they already are.”

A woman named Sheryl said she is “almost scared to watch the news” anymore. A man named Phil added that Trump’s “actions have been disruptive and [are] creating chaos.”

Shannon agreed, saying, “I don’t think anyone would have voted for him if they expected to see what we’re seeing now.”

They must have been watching the real news. I’ve been watching fake news and so far they’ve been correct on Trump. I’m actually surprised at just how fast Trump is actually keeping his promises this time.

Thoughts and tariffs. 😭

Imagine taking a job like this under Trump knowing you're going to be his lap dog and laughed at by every allied nation we have. Couldn't be happening to a nicer guy.

A supposed smart man and United States Senator thought it was a good idea to leave his senate seat to - as you correctly state - become a subservient lapdog and useful idiot for a man he got into an argument over penis size with on a national presidential debate stage.

I’ve said it before - the coffee table books, movies, documentaries and mini-series on this unbelievable satirical political career of Trump are going to be epic. Would love Tarantino to riff on this stuff.

In terms of drinking water, Marko Rubio is about as "skilled" as Trump is:

I remember that. He took more flak for wetting his whistle than Trump did for J6.

And he helped make that happen! You’d think with those big-ass satellites receivers hanging on each side of his head he’d be able to pick up a clue somewhere over the air.

He took more flak for wetting his whistle

Well, he did it so awkwardly. 'Scuse me while I give this bottle a quick blow job. Most speakers can take a swig without looking embarrassed about it. Never mind that he was showing dry mouth all through the talking – you would think a person with half a brain would start out with a wet whistle.

😂

President Donald Trump in an interview with NBC News on Saturday that he would not fire anyone involved in the Signal group chat where attack plans were inadvertently divulged to a journalist ahead of a military strike, and later added he “couldn’t care less” if automakers raised prices due to new tariffs.

In the wide-ranging interview, Trump also discussed his commitment to annexing Greenland and reiterated that a military option was not off the table.

Well, not sure this is the unification Republicans wanted but it's what they're getting.

South Korea, China, Japan agree to promote regional trade as Trump tariffs loom
SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea, China and Japan held their first economic dialogue in five years on Sunday, seeking to facilitate regional trade as the three Asian export powers brace from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

The countries' three trade ministers agreed to "closely cooperate for a comprehensive and high-level" talks on a South Korea-Japan-China free trade agreement deal to promote "regional and global trade", according to a statement released after the meeting.

Yes, the other part of Trump’s trade war (and there’s probably a lot we haven’t thought of and that remains to be seen) is that other countries don’t just stop what they’re doing because we take our ball and go home. They will strengthen and enrich themselves in other areas at our stupidly and willingly sacrificed expense.

Brazil had to do nothing during Trump’s first trade war to start selling more soybeans except for start selling more soybeans. They continue to enrich themselves off of that decision by Trump.

This is a stupid and unnecessary trade war. Talk about Bidenflation all you want, Trump was handed the literal, factually best economy in the world with a promise to grow it and cut consumer prices for everyday Americans. Where’s his f******g executive order to cap grocery prices? He’s too worried about a third term, Greenland, the Panama Canal, Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, embarrassing a wartime president for his clothing, seeking revenge and letting his mega donor billionaire friend cut critical services and support.

But you can’t be too mad when they tell you what they’re going to do in advance, loudly and often.

He’ll tank the economy and spend the next four years blaming Biden, judges, immigrants and the media for something he said he’d have “fixed” (it wasn’t broken to begin with) on day one.

But, he also said he’d impose tariffs so he’s keeping that moronic promise. Let’s just get on with it so that I can not care when the people who voted for him complain.

How Trump’s tariffs will boost my small business

Peru, where we make our cotton T-shirts and sweats, has eliminated almost all tariffs on US exports, and its remaining levies will be phased out by 2026.

That means the Trump administration is unlikely to slap Peru with heavy tariffs, and our pricing is likely to hold.
And just this week Vietnam, where we source our leggings and high-performance workout gear, rushed to reduce tariffs on American goods to “improve trade balances” with the United States.

If tariffs open the door to more American manufacturing, giving us more opportunity to expand US production of my company’s goods, I’m in.

Nope, sorry. 10% for Peru. Oh, and 46% on Vietnam. Glad you’re in!
