We'll probably have to wait for a pro free trade administration but it's on our doorstep.

If you feel like Chinese cars are suddenly right around the corner, you’re not alone. The notion has received a groundswell of both direct and indirect support lately, and as affordable new cars drop like flies from U.S. lineups, American consumers are becoming more open-minded about the prospect of allowing Chinese OEMs to enter the market.

I have seen several BYD's in Sedona. So they are already here.

And no, US, and even Japanese, manufacturers don't want to build small affordable cars. But that was also the case in the 70's when the Japanese entered the market. And now the Japanese don't want to build affordable cars and the Koreans aren't far behind.

They tried electric cars as far back as the 1970s but America was not having it, Capitalism will always impede progress. It wasn't until EVs became profitable that we started buying into the technology.

Do you know where they're getting serviced? Although EVs require less routine work than gas-powered vehicles, there still a need for maintenance and unplanned issues.

I wonder if he meant commercial vehicles, they'd have a whole separate service channel vs. consumer products.

That's a big thing with me, quality, convenient service, it's why we initially passed on the R1S I had reserved, but may now consider a Rivian (have an R2 on reserve now), since we'll [most likely] be right around the corner from two of their SCs.

No. The one I saw last week was a mid-sized sedan. Can’t tell from their website which model.

What I didn’t look for was the license plate as we see plates from Mexico all the time and they can be bought there.
