The quoted text the perfect example of how human beings twist reality to tell their lies. As heard in V For Vendetta: Politicians tell lies to hide the truth while actors tell lies to reveal the truth. Here is the RIA Novosti statement about "denazificaion". RIA Novosti is an official government media, so this is effectively Vlad's position. It is very long and not at all pleasant to even skim.
… De-Nazifying is the measure applied towards the Nazi follower masses that one is not able to subject to direct punishment as war criminals because of technicalities. The Nazis who took up arms should be destroyed to the fullest … All of them are equally involved in extreme cruelty against the civilian population … There must be a total lustration … Besides the top leaders, a significant part of the masses are guilty as accomplices of Nazism, the passive Nazis. They supported and indulged the Nazi power. The just punishment of this part of the population is possible through inflicting the unescapable hardships of our just war …
In other words, Russia's war is a noble cause and the things we are calling "war crimes" are merely necessities of the purge of the scourge.
Ironic, in a non-amusing way, how much this sounds like a sort of reworking of Mein Kampf, with its implacable othering. The programs they propose for "reforming" Ukraine seem to have been plagiarized from numerous dystopian novels/movies.
Can you believe the poll? The Russian people are backing Putin's war, citing outside sources.
Poll Shows Putin Ratings Climb Among Russians Since Ukraine Invasion
A new Russian opinion poll shows that President Vladimir Putin has gotten a boost in ratings since the start of the war in Ukraine.www.rferl.org
Hard to imagine them backing genocide while losing so much at home but there are a lot of sources for this so it sounds legit.
I don't understand how easily the Russian army could invoke such cruelty and horrific aggression toward a country that was part of the Soviet Bloc.
No, of course not, when there was the Soviet Union, all sorts of cruelty were inflicted on the citizens - just look no further than the great purge. But it wouldn’t be the first time Ukraine suffered due to the malice and/or incompetence of the Kremlin.
What the Trump cult is doing is not far from what Putin and Russia are doing. We just haven’t gotten to the point they are yet.
I think Trump supporters are the closest thing to brown shirts we've seen since WWII, it's disturbing but I'm glad we were able to at least turn it around to a degree. They're still there but forced to crawl back under their rocks without their leader giving them a platform for their hate any longer. What’s laid bare here in this war Russia has needlessly inflicted in Ukraine and, more importantly, with the lies they’re using to justify it, is how not far off the mark the GOP here in the states is. No, they’re not inflicting war (yet) and killing civilians. But they’re using democracy as a crutch to gain power. Other than enslaving people or stripping away their rights, telling people their vote doesn’t count is next in line. So the GOP doesn’t have the courage to say “we want power, we want a white Christian nation to be the dominating vision of America” to rally their troops, they’ll tell them every election they lose was stolen to achieve the same level of anger and engagement with their base.

Just like people make comparisons to the USA and Nazi Germany, we are not there but when truth takes a hit, corruption is considered ok if I win, and power grabs by cheating at the rules you profess to believe in, it is heading down the exact same path, just a matter of time. What’s laid bare here in this war Russia has needlessly inflicted in Ukraine and, more importantly, with the lies they’re using to justify it, is how not far off the mark the GOP here in the states is. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, speaking alongside his Canadian counterpart at the Pentagon on Thursday, said long-range artillery will prove “decisive” in the next phase of the war. The Biden administration, which along with Canada is training small numbers of Ukrainian troops how to operate the dozens of 155 mm howitzers that both countries have pledged to provide, is expected to approve the transfer of even more artillery to Ukraine in the coming days, Austin said
A rumor separate from this article was floated that the U.S. is providing targeting info to Ukraine, for accurate counter strikes.
Poland has sent Ukraine a couple hundred T72 tanks, enough for 2 brigades and about half of Poland’s tank force (the U.S. is selling Poland a couple hundred Abrams tanks to replace their stock). Sounds like several eastern european countries will also open up their repair infrastructure, so that Ukraine can get repaired the hundreds of Russian tanks they have captured and turn them against the Russians.
Vladimir’s going to be pissed.
Good.
