Gmail users have been urged to check their accounts after it was revealed that more than 183 million passwords were stolen in a data breach.

Australian cyber expert Troy Hunt, who revealed the incident, called it a 'vast corpus' of breached data, which totals 3.5 terrabytes.

To put that into perspective, that's the equivalent to 875 full-length HD movies.

According to Mr Hunt, 'all the major providers have email addresses in there' – so not just Gmail, but Outlook, Yahoo and others too.

My main email account only has 2 breaches, though my gmail account has 17.

Really makes you realize just how safe Google is.
 
That site said that my gmail account was breached in the Zomato breach of 2017....but I use my Yahoo account for Zomato...so, I'm calling BS.
 
Zero breaches on my gmail address, which I hardly use. No breaches on my newer main account.
4 breaches reported for my retired account that I had for over 20 years.

I switched my main account maybe three years ago, because my previous one received too much spam. Since then zero spam e-mails, although I used the new address on a lot of sites.
I wanted to switch a few years earlier, but didn't when I saw on how many sites I would have to change my e-mail address. When I eventually did, it probably took me a whole weekend to get most of the sites switched.

My main account is tied to Google and can't be undone. Something I'm sorry I ever did since I can't even use it for a show of things - Google tells me it's a managed account. Well no shit - I managed it! It's not even hosted by Google and doesn't have a Gmail domain.
