Ugh, thanks for the reminder. Next weekend. (My wife is self-employed so that makes it a pain).Today my wife and I are finishing our taxes. Will be nice putting that to rest.
All done here, my wife was awesome about getting it all together for our tax person. She spent almost two weeks dealing with all of my invoices and LLC stuff, I had to go out and get her some flowers and a nice card for that.Today my wife and I are finishing our taxes. Will be nice putting that to rest.
So sorry to hear this. I do hope you have been able to monitor your IOP (intra-ocular pressure) during this time? High IOP can cause bad headaches. In few days I will know and take action
So sorry to hear that. How bad are your floaters? I’ve had bilateral vitrectomies after detachments, and they worked well.Looks like another eye surgery in 6 months, just because patients who have had everything cleaned up surgically and then had a vitreous detach have “low vision satisfaction” unless the floaters are dealt with
I have one giant semi-circular floater around the outer edge. This is actually the same thing that happened to my right eye, and it eventually disappeared (though it could just be that my cataract blurred it so much that I didn’t see it anymore). Vitrectomy in that other eye was great. So sorry to hear that. How bad are your floaters? I’ve had bilateral vitrectomies after detachments, and they worked well.
It's amazing how well vitrectomies work. I had my first after a detachment and hemorrhage made my better eye's visual field completely opaque. I was told that it could clear in months if I didn't do anything, but I opted for surgery the same day. That was more than 20 years ago, and I just have a couple minor floaters in that eye. Surgical techniques have improved since then. My second vitrectomy was 11 years later, and the changes in instrumentation were obvious. Anyway, in this case the doctor wants to monitor it and see if it still bothers me in a few months, plus keep an eye on the epiretinal layer that has already started to form. Given the floater, the sensitivity to light coming in at certain times of day/angles, and the fact that I already see a little curvature when looking at straight vertical lines, I’m all in favor of a vitrectomy. A week or two of pain/discomfort in exchange for undistorted vision, and comfort in knowing he’ll laser the retina to prevent future problems are well worth it.
Thanks a lot for your concern and tips! Good reminder to avoid dilation of the pupils too.So sorry to hear this. I do hope you have been able to monitor your IOP (intra-ocular pressure) during this time? High IOP can cause bad headaches.
You are right that steroids can worsen glaucoma, but since you seem to have an anatomy at risk of narrow angle, you probably know that any drug that causes mydriasis (wide open pupils) is to be avoided - in the context of colds I would avoid decongestants and anticholinergics.
Keep a close eye on (sorry) your IOP, narrow angle can unfortunately rapidly blind you
Ideally, if you do have a cold/sinusitis, your ophthalmologist and ENT can coordinate your care.
I hope you get this sorted out. I'm also at risk for glaucoma because of my many eye surgeries and have the pressure monitored routinely. I used to hate having this done, but the procedure has become much easier in recent visits to my ophthalmologist. How was the MRI? I tend to be claustrophobic and had to do some mental exercises when I had them done. This morning I had a head MRI : I’m having terrible headaches, probably due to sinusitis because it mostly happens at night time when I put down my head on a pillow or if I get cold air on my forehead
Tried so many different things but now my doctor wants to see inside my head more clearly.
He gave me a nasal spray with corticosteroids that was really great for the first 4 days but after it made it worse so much worse that we were afraid I could have a glaucoma, sigh, just because in the past I had an iridotomy , laser perforation in my eyes to prevent a narrow angle glaucoma because the drainage in my eyes could not work.
I’m not the usual “suspect “ not being asian but...I’m part of few “lucky” others that are at risk. Corticosteroids could cause glaucoma in some people , sometimes.
The tiny holes could close , hopefully they are still openbecause I didn’t lose my vision and didn’t see the rainbow.. but the pain was excruciating . To be able to stay still and don’t move I took a Tylenol 3
not my usual medication
After stopping the spray it’s still bad but not as bad as few days ago.In few days I will know and take action![]()
