What are you doing today?

Have you ever been to Albuquerque? We have. Even stayed there for a night. But really, most of the rest of the state is preferable to Albuquerque. Just be sure to make that left turn there.

(Alamogordo, though, do not go there, it is worse, IME.)
Never been but on TV it looks very similar to Arizona.

Yeah, but when you’re doing that with one of them, you’re doing it with all of them. Piss one off, you piss them all off.

they ordered two seasons, so it will be back.

Oh excellent! So it's a "safe watch" :) And also, Gilligan has pretty good clout, and coming off Better Call Saul (with one of the stars), so I kind of assumed he'd get a chance to tell a complete story.

Yeah, I have no doubt that Apple will keep paying him, if for no other reason that at some point they may convince him to do something else in the Walterverse.

For any character qualms I may have here and there it's still an excellent story that's well written and acted, they've also spared no expense with their budget as the rich scenery and cinematography are all top notch, the whole "made by humans, not AI" is noticeable throughout.

Just remember Better Call Saul. If you only watched the first season, you would think it’s a completely different show than it turned out to be. And if the only season that existed was that first season, BCS would be remembered as a decent, but very flawed, show. I would be shocked if, by the time this series is done, it isn’t a masterpiece.

I've never watched either.

Oh, my "safe" was in the context of not allowing the creator a full planned run. Had a few amazing series get unexpected cancellations. Like imagine if Severance never came back ... 😵‍💫

We were super happy Deadwood got a proper send off by way of a movie. Also, if you haven't watched Deadwood, get on that ASAP :D

Yeah, knowing how Gilligan tends to have a slow burn initially, setting up tone, people, place, kind of feels out the direction and eventually settles down, I have no worries.

Deadwood is great, but I was pissed when they stopped it, and I didn’t particularly think the movie was that great.

Ok, this shouldn’t have made me giddy, but it did. (Don’t blink or you’ll miss some familiar faces)

Yesterday I posted an old photo on Facebook that I made through a train window while traveling along California’s Suisun Bay. There are a lot of oil refineries along the bay’s edge. A FB friend replied the photo would make a good book cover.

So… today I’m noodling making a book of photos I snagged through train windows on various past trips in different states over the years. And going through a bunch of train trip photos. For this book I’m thinking about it being hand made, and possibly a double accordion book that fits in a thicker CD tin. Years ago I made one like that about Alcatraz and it worked out pretty well.

i have. it’s like a baby tucson.

We have been to Tucson and to Phoenix-ish (Sun City, I think, and probably Mesa) – Tucson is, IME, Shangri-La compared to Phoenix.

Still, New Mexico is where I feel at home. I want to live in a suburb of Taos.

Looks like left eye (cataract) surgery will be in Dec., and right eye (cataract + retina) will be 3 weeks or a month later. The cool news is instead of paying $4000 out of pocket for each lens, i get the right lens free because they are doing a research study on people who get that lens when they have the retina condition I am getting treated. Pays for the entire cataract part of the surgery on that eye, actually, but I don’t care if I save my insurance company some dough.

And both surgeons agree to general anesthesia, so it’s a good day.

No. One handles the cataracts in both eyes, the other handles the retina in the right eye. (Thankfully the retina surgery is on the very mild side of things).
Fun aspect of our healthcare system: looks like one eye will be done in Dec. and the other in Jan. That way I get to pay two insurance deductibles :-(

Oh, and we had this action today!

Hahaha, the daughter was stoked to go get coffee from (this terrific, local joint) DOS - one weather check later - we ordered delivery from Dunkin' 😄

Wrote a 9800-word brief, but the word limit is 5000, so I’ve been making pass after pass through it, and now am down to 5500. Painful.
