Good thing I had already bought mine, because for my use case (home server) the extra storage didn't matter, and the new base model would've been a much worse value for the money (it's 949€ here with tax).

Apple should start investing in RAM factories. RAM is far simpler to make than CPUs, and other than IP issues, it seems like a long-term no-brainer. They are always going to need RAM.
