As a handicap for Democrats right wing media tends to lean heavy on what Democrats could do as opposed to what they’ve actually done or even come close to doing and the viewer sees the could dos as a done deal. Conversely, Republicans have a nice long current track record of what they actually have done. It’s not theoretical could happens. Look at Texas in the last couple of months as an example.

Republicans use scare tactics to push through regression legislation and voter suppression of Black, Dem and poor voters. Their track record is shitty: tax breaks for the wealthy. Cuts to education and basic services. The trend of electing GOP businessmen to usher in fiscal responsibility ends up hurting the average voter, Dem and GOP. What have they accomplished recently that shows a track record? Pre-emption of decent minimum wage increases? Bathroom bills? Banning books on Rosa Parks, MLK and the Civil Rights Movement? Banning CRT in K-12 where it isn't taught? Gotcha!

Then it'll take years to try to get back to reality and some semblance of balance. Unfortunately for Dems, it's usually interrupted or during some major crisis. The Great Recession during Obama. The pandemic now. Voters will be gobsmacked that the GOP GOP'd them. Then march, protest and vote Dems back in. Spit out. Rinse. Repeat. As my grandmother says: It's the same old shit.

Let's face it, the GOP can't block anything the Dems want to pass. It's not the GOP's fault the Dems can't convince 2 members to go along with their plan. And after yesterday, there may be more than 2.

Lets also face the fact that there's no reason some Republicans couldn't go along with some legislation other than party mandated blanket obstruction designed to make the government and the Democrats broken and ineffective. You can't tell me the huge Republican voter base of older males is happy watching medicare expansion getting gutted from the current bill being debated and their representatives are just quietly watching it happen because they are more interested in sinking the entire ship.

I should have clarified what I meant by that statement. I wasn’t complimenting Republicans on what they have achieved. I was saying fear of Republicans is based on concrete and recent facts while fear of Democrats is based on theocraticals in most cases.

Then they will just need to learn to be happy in the minority, because that is what is coming.

I keep seeing references to how the country supports all these things in the Bill. If you can lie with statistics, you can also lie with Polls. If there are 10 things and all are polled separately, they may get a healthy majority of support. But someone may heavily support half of them, but other half they absolutely do not want. And they vote against what they don't want vs for what they do. You can say this is voting against their own self interest, but they see the vote against something they don't want as being in their self interest.

So Dems should cower over what the GOP will think about them. They should take into consideration the feelings of those that are not interested in doing anything for them? They should forget about doing the morally right thing because people that won't vote for them don't like it.

Immigrants, legal and "illegal" are a net benefit for this country. The latter group pays taxes that they can never recoup in any form. They keep prices down. The avarice of businesses that exploit them keep wages down, but that's on those that do the exploiting, not those that are exploited.

Look, I don't know where you live, your life experiences or any of that. I also don't know what it is like to live in the inner city.

Man, what a world we live in when people want to hand money to illegal immigrants. What a time to be alive!

Screw the single mother working 2 jobs while HER CHILDREN stay home ALONE all night long. Lets give millions to illegal immigrants because they were separated at the border and put in cages, even though the conditions in their home countries are worse.

Why stop there? Lets send money back to the families of those that don't make it and die of starvation or dehydration on American soil. Killed by a Coyote (not the animal) on American Soil? Here is $450k!

A lot of folks here are out of touch with reality. I don't mean any disrespect but when people here are dropping $3k+ on Macbook Pros and other Apple products you're out of touch with most Americans.
