Conversation cleary monitored and not sure how

Isn't it possible that the recipient of your email forwarded the email to someone? Maybe some of your quotes or other content you sent was worth sharing on FB, and your email got copied along?

There's dozens of simple explanations for this that do not involve your phone "listening" to a spoken conversation.

I mentioned Taco Bell to my wife about an hour ago and am now seeing ads on my FB feed. The only app that had microphone access was Instagram Edits, so we can narrow it down to just that. Makes sense that I'm seeing it in the Meta platform as well. Total scumbags, the lot of them.

… and am now seeing ads …

Artificial Stupidity. You mention Thing, so suddenly you get a bunch of ads for Thing, which you clearly already have awareness of, so the ads seem not only superfluous, but also obvious evidence of being monitored. If you mention Thing in conversation, a sensible algorithm would look at the ad base and say, "he might not be aware of Other Thing, which is also one of our advertisers, so we should feed him ads for that."

I'd just be happy if they stopped going full surveillance and monitoring my every word in my private home. Surely I checked a box somewhere that says "sure, go ahead" buried in some obscure language 10 pages deep in their ToS but I don't fucking want it. You would think you could press charges for this sort of thing.

That said, I know the exact source for the first time but the reality is I need to remember to turn these services off when I'm done using them.
