I know there is actually a pet thread, but sometimes I take actual portraits of my dog, so thought I would share in the animal thread. I can move it if I need to though.
This is Halley. She is a two year old lab/collie mix. My daughter wanted a dog for years and years and years. I pretty much always had a dog growing up, but "my dog" from my childhood passed away right after I got married (by that point she was my parents' dog since I couldn't take her to college or an apartment). I never wanted another dog after that; she was irreplacable. And my husband never had a pet and wanted a dog even less than I did. And yet, here we are, my daughter's pleas finally wore us down, and Halley is one of the best things that ever happened to us. My husband loves her and says hi to her first thing in the morning and first thing when he gets home at night.
