Inexpensive SAS <-> USB for Macs?

I have a lot of older SAS disks. But they're still in decent shape and at 4-8TB, big enough to be useful offline backups of various family Macs. So how do I do that?

I have very convenient docks for USB3 <-> SATA that have been around for over a decade, which you can usually find for $25-$35. No such things existed for SAS some years back, but looking again now I see some! Except they're $125-$250, which is a bit much if I need a half dozen or so for the widely distributed Macs (no sharing). I also spotted just a couple of cheaper things in the $40-60 range, that do not give me a particularly good feeling.

Has anyone done this? What did you use, and how did it work out for you?
