The M5 iPad has been shown on YouTube by the same Russian leaker who leaked the M4 MacBook Pro last year.

It’s a binned 9 core model.

Same clock speed as M4!

The current M4 iPad is so good, yeah, I think it's got a solid 3+ years life cycle in it before even thinking about an upgrade :)

The performance numbers, clock-adjusted, don't match the A19P. This suggests that the cores are different. Since Apple's had so much success with their cache strategy (including with the current A19), it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that they're going back to that well again. Or perhaps they're doing something else.

I was thinking that. It’s around what, 10% increase roughly. All ipc increase. I’m quite impressed tbh.

Yeah, at this point I figured they’d run out of good IPC improvements, but I’m guessing increasing queue and cache sizes still has some life in it. At some point they get close to 100% utilization of every pipeline and then there isn’t much more they can do, unless something in the software stack comes along and lets them make good use of even more pipelines.

While it is more likely that this is real (as their last leak was), of course it’s possible it’s not or at the very least some of the reported information being incorrect, especially clock speed, as occasionally GB will report incorrect data for new devices. I feel like I’ve seen that at least once before.

It certainly could be. We’ll have to wait for more scores. I did look at the json data and it seems to match 4.4, but who knows.

There’s second leak apparently. All I have is a twitter link. Are these banned? Replace y with x.

Ok here’s the yt link.

It’s a little amusing since YouTube is effectively blocked in Russia. Obviously not perfectly though. I believe from reports at the beginning of the year/end of last year Russian traffic is down about 80% or so. I wonder how big the audience is for these Russian tech tubers now, though I suppose the audience of Russian-speaking is bigger than just Russian. And of course leak videos like this people will watch through translation. I wonder how they get paid? Unless of course these guys are given special privileges.
