Yeah, glad to have left on my own accord so I don't see any of that, sounds like I'm not missing much.

I don't think I was ever banned, but I was once give a warning. I often check there for news, but I rarely post any longer, especially in the politics section. I always tried to be polite when expressing my opinions, as I have been here, though I may have gone off the rails a bit on occasion.

You and I have had some exchanges about the Apple Vision Pro on MR, but I found your responses to be civil, even when we disagreed. One reason I much prefer it here is that folks seem to like each other, even if their opinions differ.

They ended up reversing them all (it wasn't just me) as I guess the MR blogger or whatever meant to put the post into the "political" area, where it should have been for sure.

Glad to hear that not only wasn't it a permanent ban, especially considering you are a financial contributor to the site. And it does seem like it was more a case of the writer and the mods not being on the same page, something they fixed by reclassifying the article as political in nature.

There used to be a member named "theyayarealiving" (or something like that) who seemed to live on the site, posting dozens or seemingly hundreds of times a day. I wasn't a fan of all of their posts, but they did offer a lot of interesting commentary as well. And then one day — poof!— they were banned. And nobody could find out why. It's the sheer lack of transparency that makes the moderation of that site so infuriating.

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure "yay" is now posting under a different username (one that was already active before the "yay" account was banned).

Yeah she's been a fixture there for years, not sure about now though. I've always had decent back and forth with her so it was never a problem but yes, she is/was the most prolific poster I've ever seen on a message board.

Yeah, the politics section is mostly a mess and the site could use a moratorium on articles (or at least comments) about EU vs Apple stuff.
I think there have been probably about 40-50 of the exact same thread argument rounds between all the same people, and nobody is convincing anyone of anything. 😂

One is going on right now, with big huge long replies back and forth just regurgitating the exact same stuff. I've lost the energy for it personally.
 
They could also use fewer advertisements disguised as news articles about the tacky products made by Throwboy, Nanoleaf and Grid Studio.

Then again, if they got rid of those articles, the staff probably would't be knee-deep in freebies anymore.

If you look in their feedback forum this (spam) is one of their biggest complaints, in the end they're about making money over anything else.
