If it was backlit, I would gladly pay $179 :D

Oh, and black

Actually I __love__ my currently mechanical, if Das Keyboard revised the current model, everything the same, and just added a backlight, I'd happily spend another $xxx.

Are any of the battery powered keyboards backlit?

Yeah, a few, I know Logitech makes one.

but only works with new mac cause you know figner prints need the latest hardware to deal with.

Love the fingerprint scanner on my new M1, works great. Also really dig the touch bar, it's gotten a bad wrap out there but personally I've found it to be useful.

I love the black backlit Logitech keyboards.

I am perfectly happy with the Space Grey Magic Keyboard that I bought when they became available a few years ago -- it and the Space Grey Magic Mouse II nicely match my Space Grey 2018 MBP that I use as a "desktop substitute." Not interested in the Touch ID feature, so I wouldn't be using that anyway. Now, if they'd released this keyboard in the colors that match the new iMacs, I'd have snapped up an orange one in a hurry! Plain old silver.....blah. Yeah, $179.00 seems like a pretty steep price. I don't recall what I paid for the Space Grey one.
