I understand that transparency matters, especially when it comes to bots, etc. but one can also see Karma, length of time joined and other info as well.

However, what it's most commonly used for is to impeach someone for opinions they don't agree with. Instead of making their case, they dig up comment history to be used against you.

Ironically, when I posted this to the "Privacy" sub on Reddit it was widely panned and subsequently deleted by moderators.

How often do you use Reddit? I started a couple years ago and have found it helpful because there's a sub for just about any topic and you can start one if there isn't. Sure, there's the typical complement of jerks, but I try to avoid them. I didn't know about the privacy setting though, so thanks!

I've been on there for over a decade now, nearly everything is positive and for the most part I stay out of politically charged topics so it's not really an issue for me but we see the trend all the time. If one person doesn't like what the other says they weaponize that person's post history against them. I'm not a fan of letting every internet stranger weed through my comments and never have been.

Even on here you can make your profile private and most platforms support it, it's good to see Reddit actually make that change and it's sad to see so many on Reddit agains it.
