I hope any and all such jokes come to haunt him next time he runs for public office. I can't see his appeal really.

Cruz backed Trump, when Trump both accused Cruz of having won the Iowa primaries due to voter fraud. Trump also referred to Cruz as "Lyin Ted" and called his wife ugly. If they respect bravado and a show of strength, they don't get it there. Flying to Cancun strikes me as being in line with what Cruz would normally accuse "limousine liberals" of doing. I'm unsure how he maintains a political career.
