The BMW Thread

Interesting. Charging > Adapters doesn’t exist for me.

Me neither, but that's because of our iX OS version, the app must do some kind of validation to present that option.

We're stuck on an old version, we've got the "charge battery" bug so no RSUs, quick fix at the dealer, just never made an appointment. Hahaha, they had one for 10a on Xmas Eve, so grabbed that one, they're setting us up with a loaner, we'll hit the Town Center, lunch, a little shopping, get it back sorted out :)

I should check what’s up with my wife’s ‘25 i4. She’s probably gotten all sorts of email about it but she doesn’t care.

I've gotten none for mine. 🤷‍♂️

Really thorough deep dive into the iX3 options, configuration, some talk about market specific options too.

Woo!

Our iX is at the dealer for the "charge battery" stuck OTA issue, looks like it got flashed this morning to 11/2025.40

We've been several versions behind. Also, they loaned us a '26 iX x45. Very nice, no hassles, just a "Here's your loaner, sign, use it till we return your car"

I've been monitoring it via the app, hahaha, even took some exterior pics.

They're doing a full inspection, any maintenance, have a small creak from the front suspension they'll sort out.

We dropped it off on Xmas Eve, hit up a little more shopping, lunch, cruised on home, perfect timing for us too, no trips, barely using the loaner.

Oh yeah and this new option appeared …

No app update, as suspected, when the car can support it, the app provides the option :)

guess i’ll wait a few months. not that i’m likely to actually charge at a tesla charger unless my house loses power for a week again or something.

Yeah, even if we hadn't taken any of our recent trips yet, we wouldn't need it.

Such a killer service experience, service area looks like a clean room, the supervising service manager does a full walk around video with explanation about the service performed. There's so much more to a vehicle than HERF DERF ZERO TO SIXTY! :D

Yeah man their service is often excellent, that's a whole new level of transparency. (y)

The fact that they came to my house, picked the car up, and returned it repaired a couple days later was pretty nice. That said, communications/status updates weren’t all that great. I may have just had bad luck.

Outstanding got the car (spotless) back this morning. Topped off fluids (er, which is really just washer fluid), replaced the cabin filter, everything checked (brakes, other fluids, tires, etc.), all no charge.

F***ing Tesla charging for cabin air filters on a leased Model 3 with a KNOWN faulty HVAC intake design (so this was twice a year for me).

Some nice updates, one of my faves, no unlock/lock/unlock/lock at "home" now :)

Working so much faster, better, entry as expected, UI snappier, little boost in AC charging, I still need to wade into some of the updates since we got several at once.

What is this?
It recognizes when you're at your home and will not automatically lock the car, as to where anywhere else it will. It's always been problematic for me though so I turned off on both of our cars.

It's always been problematic for me though so I turned off on both of our cars.

I had walk-away-lock on for the longest time on my car, which had no exception for "at home", but that seemed ok to me. Then I was reading that my doorhandles have cap-sense lock switches in a triple groove at the back of the handle, which makes it really easy to lock the car as you go somewhere or leave it unlocked (as long as you fail to accidentally lean against the sensor as you walk by). The inside of the (non-retracting) handles is the cap-sense unlock, so I never have to touch my fob (on rare occasions, when I want to raise the back to help my find my car in a parking lot).

The BMW implementation (not surprising) is the other way around. i.e., it doesn't unlock when at home (if turned on). So it still locks initially when you walk away.

BMWs (German cars in general) tend to more conservative safety/security. Like the hatch on the iX? You can open with the Car Key, app, fob (in addition to the button, driver door button - or - kick under the rear bumper). However, you cannot remote close it in any way (I guess the kick-to-close is "touchless" but you're standing right there.

I was happy after the loaner to get my key fob put away again, I can't stand carrying "keys" anymore :p I occasionally hop in the Jeep with just my phone/watch, sit there like a dummy wondering what to do next 🤣

oops. :D

Umm, something-something BMW that's not anything about prime rib.
