Tik Tok spying?

Oh no! Another app I don’t use that has no information on me. Along with FB and Twitter!
All companies are just out for your hard earned shilling. Robbing bar stewards.
I tried it but every time I opened it up there were half naked young teenage girls dancing, as a man in his 50s it felt like I was going to be put on a FBI list or something. Not sure what the appeal of this app is to anyone who isn't under 21.

My kids watch a lot of tiktoks. Some of them are really funny and some are informational, but most are just drivel.

I heard you were on several lists. 🤪

You have to search and watch for stuff you like. Then the algorithm will start to suggest similar videos and creators.

I follow political creators, history, true crime, ect. There is something for everyone.

But all videos, right? TBH I never even gave it a chance, I was pretty turned off right out of the box and just never went back. My real interest lies in photography and I'm really active on IG, FB and Reddit but I don't know how that would fit into a video only app.

I don't make videos on there. I just watch. But I think you can make videos of your photography.

Tik Tok is my favorite social media app and I am 40 yrs old lol

Yes, but however, let's be realistic. In fact, every social network covertly spies on its users. I have nothing hidden or forbidden, so I am not afraid of anything and actively use TikTok.
The issue with TikTok is that all that personal information is in the hands, supposedly, of china’s dictatorship. Whether that matters to anyone, who knows. One could certainly imagine it being used in an information warfare campaign.

All the popular applications can use your data. You allow them access to everything, so don't wonder if the FBI or other government authorities know that you are eating for breakfast, lol.
True, only in this case it's handing all that information over to China.

Welcome to the site BTW.

There is your answer, TikTok quickly misread your interests as pornography.

There are similar concerns with Opera, which is Chinese-owned—particularly including Opera's free VPN.

Imagine using a VPN that ends up having facilitated the sort of thing one had meant to prevent.
