John Ternus
He’s a very solid engineer who has been responsible for all the hardware for awhile.I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but who?
This has been widely rumored, though not this soon.I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but who?
History has yet to determine Cook’s legacy. He certainly ballooned the company into a giant industry-leading competitor. But will he be remembered for not sufficiently diversifying the supply chain outside of China? Not going all in on AI? Not coming up with the next big product to replace iPhone?I suppose Cook dispelled the perception that you need a rock star CEO and the media just tried to force that on him whenever possible.
Some more information, including some of Ternus’ credentials.

You need enough AI. I think Apple’s been threading the needle well. But things can change. Maybe suddenly there’s huge demand for AI stuff and Apple is forced to rely on paying others. Maybe not.I honestly don't understand the demand for MORE AI!!!! For what exactly? I don't think enthusiasts even know. They might as well demand Apple products feature more Bitcoin.
I think Cook will be remembered and appreciated for several initiatives that were undertaken during his time as CEO, notably the development of Apple silicon, the foray into wearables, and the expansion of Apple services. I also think he's done better on the AI front than many give him credit for, despite some missteps. The brewing mistrust of AI amongst consumers will affect whether his approach will turn out to be right.History has yet to determine Cook’s legacy. Who knows?
I've been a vocal opponent for a long but the LLM has me convinced, finding solutions is way easier when you can have a conversation with the AI that works through it with you rather than googling several rabbit holes. That said I'm hoping (even through the advancement of AI) that it can utilize less CPU usage and conversely power consumption because right now it's a power hungry bottomless pit.I honestly don't understand the demand for MORE AI!!!! Gurman would say Srouji stayed because he’s getting Ternus’ job. He’s never wrong.Remember when Gurman said Srouji was leaving? Now he’s got Ternus’ job. Gurman, Gurman, Gurman.

I think putting all the teams under one person makes sense as long as they can collaborate and pull in roughly the same direction. And the answer is Sri.

It’s funny, because there is a joke that “advanced technologies” in silicon valley is often code for “we don’t know what to do with this person, so stick them someplace where they can’t cause any trouble.”I think putting all the teams under one person makes sense as long as they can collaborate and pull in roughly the same direction.
The advanced technologies group is interesting. I wonder if they’ll be charged with R&D for future products that may never come to fruition. But there has to be a mechanism to avoid spending too much money and effort on dead ends.
