Rumors about Tim Cook stepping down

So lay it on Ternus instead of taking all the bad press with you? The upcoming decisions don’t suddenly go away if that’s Tim Cook’s goal.

If it is a factor, I wouldn't see it as a "See ya, suckers. Good luck with that." exit. I see it more as deeply personal reasons he doesn't want to be part of the capitulation and feels somebody else could potentially handle it better and feel less personal about it. It's like a major business model change that he maybe feels he's not right for.

That would be a good theory, except he started the capitulation.

And possibly regrets it and doesn't want to continue. Like was mentioned, we don't know what threats were being made behind the scenes. This would be on top of the public demands that Apple start doing more manufacturing in the US regardless of the negative financial impact.

He’s opened up Apple to possible criminal investigations:

(Of course Dimon himself or at least Chase is in potential trouble with Epstein finances)

Not knowing Tim Cook personally we can only infer from his actions. My inference is that he does care and dislike “playing ball” with the administration. Bit he does also play ball. And I do acknowledge that there’s great pressure and forces on him and possible threats against Apple from the government but frankly the fight should be fought. He does have personal financial incentives alongside responsibilities to shareholders and his actions put all of that first. I do think he cares and I do think he’s saddened doing all of this but he’s not opposed to it all enough to not do it. I still respect his work and what he’s done but I’m also disappointed.

I can understand that position to a degree, he's the one you have to please in order to get anywhere in a world where democracy is dead. That said, presenting him with a 24k gold and glass statue was an embarrassingly cringeworthy display of capitulation, one I thought would be beneath Cook. He (like Zuckerberg) lost a lot of respect over it.

Yeah, I think there's "playing ball" and then "fondling balls", and that statue was an example of the latter ...
