What are you doing today?

Made my final mortgage payment today and received confirmation that my house is now paid off. Probably a good thing to have taken care of before the Second Great Depression.
Congratulations! And I hope you are wrong about the other thing.

Taking another day to detox after losing my job at our provincial insurance carrier (in IT). So, if anyone knows of somewhere in the private sector in the BC lower mainland that needs technology leadership, shoot me a PM. :)

I saw it coming for awhile. The senior leadership in IT want robots / yes men - I kept pushing for change....the writing was on the wall.

Very sorry! I will keep my eyes open.
Superficiality and AI are the two things that will completely destroy us. I hope there will be a point where the world can be saved and at that moment the ones with a brain will be in charge and govern over stupidity/ignorance.

got three vaccines today (while they’re still legal). 3rd hep b, and first shingles and pneumonia. i now feel like i have every symptom of every known disease. and they rotate.

not recommended.

Wait for the second Shingles jab. That one had me throwing up for 24 hours. And I didn't barf once during my whole series of heavy dirty chemo.

Sorry to hear this, I've had it happen a couple of times myself. While I'm out of touch on LinkedIn, my buddy said a lot of IT folks are also losing their jobs right now and it's really not too surprising considering how massive the hiring spree has been over the last few years.

The second Shingrix shot made me quite sick for 2-3 days. But that shouldn’t discourage anyone from getting vaccinated. There is evidence that the shingles vaccines can reduce the probability of developing dementia, especially in women.

TBH this is exactly why I've refused it, I did have shingles about 10 years ago as well and it sucked but to me there's nothing worse than vomiting.

Sorry to hear, but having had shingles 3 times and one even after I had Zostavax-50/50 chances to have it anyway - and I got mine 😟
I rushed to have Shingrix as well. I can tell you that Shingles are worse than vomiting . The last time pain was so intense because it wasn't diagnosed on time while I was travelling, the doctor had to give me some morphine
It can leave you with neuropathy. Not fun. I had both Shingrix and pneumonia shots in 2020 but no nausea for me.

The worst case of shingles I’ve encountered was in a friend who had eye involvement. IIRC, he didn’t completely recover his eyesight.

Vomiting is definitely unpleasant, but it very rarely has long term consequences.

Have to disagree. There is a reason there are several regimens combining multiple vaccines - the combo's are usually more effective, i.e., long acting immunity.

I hear you on the effects, but ever since I started preceding my shots with 500 mg Naproxen (any other NSAID will do as well, just take the high dose with some food an hour before) I have had zero systemic and minimal local effects. This does not diminish the vaccine effectiveness.

My first Covid shot I started having tachycardia and chills = fever, I took a Naproxen and an hour later everything was back to normal.

It may be a bit late for you, but you can still try it if the effects persist. Problem is at this point, the inflammatory reaction is already in full swing.

I cant take nsaids because of another medication I take.

I just woke up. Was up all night sweating and in pain. Every hour or so i had to drink water, and I had terrible chills all night. Fever now is 101. Feels like the flu. Took Tylenol and hopefully that will help.

Shots were yesterday morning - hopefully o feel human tomorrow in time for work.

Sorry man, hope you're feeling better soon.

My wife and her mom have been watching TikTok for 5 hours straight, I broadcast it to the TV for them. It's amazing how addictive it is when you dial in the content to your tastes.

I've always been pretty demented.

I'd do it again. I'd rather spend a week vomiting than get Shingles.

In other news, we were out bailing water in the storm last night. Water came within seconds of overflowing the pool.

You know I have been consumed with the crap show that is going on in the stock market, that I completely forgot about spring time storms and tornado that impact the country. Glad it didn't overflow, how is the rest of the week weather wise look for you? We have a week of rain up here.

I've been visiting my mother in the hospital after work every day I'm in the office. It's about 90-120 minutes to the hospital from home, but my office is halfway between me and the hospital.

We're seeing progress, but at this point it's clear dementia is slowly eating away at her memory and ability to recognize folks, and she's mid-stage Chronic Kidney Disease. On top of that, she has taste disorder which is likely from the kidney disease which has been posing a challenge getting her to eat. So right now, we're hoping that the infection she's in the hospital for gets cleared up, and then returned to the long term care home for hospice care.

She might be able to rebuild the atrophied muscle from being bedridden for 5 months, and then be able to migrate to hospice at home, but might not. No idea at this point. But the fact that we seem to be making some progress on the taste disorder gives me hope that the coin flip may come out in our favor.

At home, I'm just trying to get some cleaning done, and rebuilding my gaming PC into a smaller PC case.
