He didn't support Trump's claim that he won the election and it cost him. The Republican party is fundamentally broken right now and as a result, our ability to properly govern the country. In the future they're going to need to come up with legislation that gives the Government a way to function should this ever happen again

Back when Manchin and Sinema were blocking the Biden agenda on behalf of their constituents (read: rich donors) the Republicans were a non-entity that nobody expected to do anything, probably exchanging stepdaughter Pornhub links instead of governing. But now that the Republicans have effectively shut down the federal government while they pick their prom king to officially shut down the government we get “Why aren’t the Democrats helping out!?! This is their fault!” Luckily that’s going to work on very few people. Most voters know exactly who to blame.

I wonder about that. It takes a lot of personal introspection and character to own one's poor decisions and mistakes, and then move on.
So far I've seen no evidence of that occurring with members of the republican party. Of course if you happen to be a fellow indictee and taking a plea deal, that's different.

So the republicans have their unknown backbencher who republicans agreed to hate the least out of their conference. I hope he does a good job, but the sad thing is, getting the gavel was the easy part! Now you're in charge of these feral cats, good luck.
I'll give him a shot. I will take Ken Buck and others at their word that the MAGA lies are destroying the party, and hope they held firm to the demand they admit the election was not stolen. Making a mistake, even a really stupid, unconstitutional and ongoing mistake that lasts three years, happens. Well, it does if you're a republican. But what now? That's what I want to see.
Either this episode has taught them a lesson or not. I'm going with "not", but time will tell.

Also called Jan 6 a "legitimate protest" but we knew there was no place for anyone rational in the party as they eviscerated any of them who tried to be reasonable. However, it's nice to know they do exist in the Republican party, baby steps.

I could never support, like, or respect any election denier. No credibility, no character, no honesty, no respect for the Constitution or rule of law, no respect for the United States and its founding principles, and apparently believes lying in general is A-OK.

• Supports restrictions to medical marijuana and refers to it as a "gateway drug"
• Like Emmer, he supported and signed on to Texas v Pennsylvania in an effort to challenge the election results
• He voted to overturn those results in Pennsylvania.
• Supports an end to military aid to Ukraine.
• Johnson has remarked that his career is dedicated to "defending religious freedom, the sanctity of human life, and biblical values, including the defense of traditional marriage, and other ideals like these when they’ve been under assault."
