Greatly enjoying my upgrade from Apple Watch Series 4 to the Ultra 2. The “always on” screen is fantastic, and even when dimmed I can easily read it. The bigger screen allows for more complications, which is great. Battery life has been great - will easily last >48 hours given my usage.

And the action button is a lot of fun - I set it to trigger a shortcut which pops up a menu: Drive Time, Front Door, Garage Door. The latter two unlock/open or lock/close the relevant door (they toggle depending on the current state). The first one figures out where I am currently, and if at home it gives me the drive time to my kid’s school, if at school gives me the drive time to my office, and if anywhere else gives me the drive time home.

Honestly, I will probably waste countless hours programming the action button.

How does it look on your wrist? I have been hesitant to pull the trigger on a the Ultra, because I don't like the look of oversized watches. Just my preference I guess. 🤷‍♂️

It looks big :-) Weight doesn’t feel too difference than my Series 4 (which was stainless steel). The size doesn’t bother me at all, but wife thinks it looks too big.

Dragging up this old thread because it is still sort of relevant.

I just got my first Watch last week and it is also the Ultra 2. I have been playing with it some and know I am not anywhere close to using it to its full ability.

Since this is my first Watch, I’m not sure how often I should charge it. I know Chuck you thought you could get 48 hours out of it.

Is this still the case? For the past couple of days I have been taking it off to charge when we sit down to watch TV and it is at 100% when it’s time for bed.

I wear it to sleep and by charge time it has been in the 77-82% range.

Should I charge it or make it last another day or 2.

I really do like it. Just need to find a band I like.

Mine still lasts two days, but I usually charge it every night to 80%.

I use my Ultra 1 for sleep tracking. Usually charge when I get the notification that it needs to charge to be able to track my sleep.

I am easily getting 2 days out of a charge. Could get 3 if I wanted to. And damn it charges fast. It was at 57% last night, put it on charge (one of those aftermarket stands, not the Apple charger that came with it) and it was at 100% in less than 2 hours.

But I am also not using it anywhere near its capacity as it is basically just a watch that I can see the temperature on. I have used a couple of apps, but still no where near how many of you probably use it.

Looking for a nice face if anyone has any suggestions. Currently using the Chronograph and I like it except if you touch it accidentally, it goes into Stopwatch mode. Also pre-ordered the Sandmark band.

Any of you that have the Ultra 2 used the trail/GPS accuracy and features? If so have you compared the Ultra 2 to a Garmin watch?

LOL. The outdoors.

Wife got me a nice SandMark band for Christmas. Band is very nice, but I am right between links. Take one out and it is too tight, put it back in and it feel nice, but as it moves on my wrist, sometimes the sensor thinks it is off and I have to reenter my passcode.

The only remedy for that is to eat more cheese.

Ditto, give or take depending on how much exercise I do. Can push it a bit further on low power mode.

My battery health is still 100%, unboxed mine as a gift from my partner on 25th of December 2023.

The battery management will pretty quickly decide to charge to only 80% (like, give it a week or two to establish your routine?) to keep the battery good if you aren't pushing it. I charge mine every night (and let the battery management take care of it) unless I forget or don't place it on my third party charger quite right and it doesn't charge.

After 13 months, I'm still super happy with mine, with the titanium construction I've literally taken chunks out of walls, etc. accidentally with it and the watch itself is still perfect.

Based on my experience, I'd suggest to just charge it when convenient for you, and don't bother trying to micromanage the battery or change your habits to work around it. The built in battery management is good.

Right now, I started the day with about 80% at 7am, it's now 10pm and I have 46% left. Had the first few hours on low power mode; I forgot to turn it back to full power mode this morning as the previous day it didn't charge due to my slightly less than ideal third party charger (its made for normal watch, the ultra is slightly too big for it and sometimes doesn't sit right).
