Got banned over there for saying this about the TikTok ownership change:

Basically, taking all the things we don’t like about the Chinese having blackbox control, and then giving it to local oligarchs plus some in the Middle East.

As long as they don't stop delivering all my funny fart and dog videos I couldn't care less, this app is gold for comic relief. In my house cast it out to the TV and it has all laughing our asses off within the first 10 seconds, their algorithm rocks.

May I ask, just as a thought experiment, is there any entity that could own and influence the platform that would make you reconsider?

Except you just said a MAGA takeover would ruin it ... and that's basically who's taken it over? I'm not even sure if Ellison is that much smarter than Musk given what he's doing to CBS. I'll grant you most of the billionaires are turning MAGA for one reason or the other, but these are pretty explicitly all-in MAGA-types. There's a reason why the White House also wants Ellison to own Time Warner to get HBO and CNN.

yeah, i think it’s not long before tiktok is mostly nazis, mysoginists and homophobes doing cute little synchronized racist skits.

That's where my money is betting.
They've seen what influence TikTok can have and wanted to get in on the "moving of minds" (I think).

And the day they do that I'll be gone, just as I was with Twitter the day the dark overlord walked in with a kitchen sink, and I never looked back.

That said, it will be sad if that really happens, it's one of the few places that's an escape from the whole alt right takeover.
 
Haha, yeah, sounds like we’re just swapping one set of influencers for another. Social media politics never fails to surprise—or annoy, depending on the day!
