Macrumors still nuking posts without even so much as a word

15 years ago was about when I first joined the site. Before that, I frequented a somewhat more obscure site called macosrumors, which was pretty strict but fair in its moderation. When I went back to visit it some years later, the forum section seemed like a sort of uncomfortable shithole, full of the "wrong" type of posters (IMHO). I guess most places develop internentropy, becoming not what they used to be.

I was once slapped with a three-day suspension for the crime of choosing the laughing emoji from the "like" button on an article by one of their writers. The message I received from the moderator was that I was begin given a timeout for "harassing" the writer. 🤣

For more than 15 years, I was a regular on the site, visiting and posting several times a week. Now, I check the front page maybe once a week, and I never post.
Yeah, I've been suspended once few years back, don't even remind what I did that was so nefarious
BTW they are basically doing a lot of publicity to stuff I don't care that much but I understand they need to survive.
In their forum there are still few very good tech people helping when you have an issue 💗

Today I learned MacRumors "moderators" refuse to remove posts that mock the tech-challenged elderly. That site grows more disgusting by the day.

Correct. But if you suggest the elderly should get COVID vaccinations, they’ll remove those posts.

Seems like the latest thing Arn has deemed to be acceptable behavior by MacRumors members is fat-shaming. The recent story about Jony Ive (and previous articles featuring him as well) is filled with comments about his weight and appearance. That's apparently A-OK with the former physician and his team of "moderators."
