Meta getting rid of fact checking and moving content moderation to Texas because CA is viewed as too Liberal

It may take a few years, but I expect (i.e., want to believe) that the backlash against all this shitwaddery will be massive and all but irreversible.

It really is embarrassing watching grown men kissing trump's butt, and then acting like whiney 12 year olds (I'm being generous on age).

I speculate that all his gym rat buddies are rubbing off on him.

@Eric - in the profiles here, there is an “identity” section that lets you enter profile URLs for Skype, Twitter, and Facebook. Any chance those can be replaced by more relevant/less fascist entries?

I can just nuke them, are there any others we need? Otherwise each one requires its own custom code so I would need to research one by one.

I don’t think we *need* any, unless you have a desire to push your platforms of choice.

I still have my Facebook account, I just never use it. Last time I tried I saw three interesting posts from people I know, then stopped after 20 other posts/ads that weren't from friends. It's just garbage. This doesn't even tempt me slightly to return.

I mainly use mine for Groups. I am a member of several riding groups and it’s a way to keep up with group rides and a few months ago a guy I had ridden a few times with passed away. Had it not been for the group I would not have known.

Also, I was the unicorn where I grew up in that I went away to boarding school, then away for college and then while I lived about 15 miles from where I grew up, I rarely went back to my hometown except to visit my parents. So I know if I want to find someone I went to school, boarding school or college with, I can usually find them via FB.

So it does serve a purpose. At least for me.

This is why I used it as well but I've slowed down my attendance significantly over the last couple of years, have also noticed that attendance in those groups was also way down anyway. I think regardless of Zuckerberg people have been naturally shifting away, maybe it's a last ditch effort on his part to stem the flow. 🤷‍♂️

I suspect most people fall into that category. I don't. I'm introverted and autistic and don't really get jazzed about the company of others. The fact that some of those people were educated in the same building I was 40 years ago doesn't do much for me. We weren't friends then and a 40 year absence from my life has really strengthened that bond. I'm also aware enough to recognize that this is one of those times where I'm the oddball. They're not weird, I am. And I'm cool with that. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's just who I am.

With that said, I'm not an anti-social hermit. I just socialize in my own ways. I'm hooking up with a couple guys from work to do a game jam on Friday. For those not in the know, a game jam is a video game building competition. On the day the jam starts, they'll announce a theme. It could be zebras or jumping or bliss or tiny or whatever. Then you have X amount of time (this one is two weeks which is common) to build a game, ideally based on the theme, and submit it. None of us have done a game jam before, so it's hard to say how it will go. Hopefully it's at least fun. That's the point. It's almost certainly not going to be something people will want to play for hours. But if there's a next time for us, hopefully we'll do a little better.

Oh, of the 800 people I went to Elementary and Jr. HS school with, there are a handful who I have any desire to keep in touch with. Boarding school is a bit different since we all kind of raised each other, but that number is still under 20. As for college, I keep in touch with my ex-GF and a few teammates, but that is about it.

Sadly, at this age it keeps me up to date on who has passed.

That's another reason I have not to keep up. I don't need depressing news in my life. Also, if it's someone I might care about, I'm sure my brother and sister would let me know. They're closer to the people from my class than I am. :ROFLMAO:
Not to mention that unless an official announcement is made on their feed you don't really know if they've just dropped from the site or passed away. I know many who have died and none of it was ever shared on their feed.
