Katbel's pic reminded me of the many seasons back home in Onterrible that I spent on the shores of Lake Huron. *sigh*. Now I'm homesick. .

.. looked around the apartment this morning for something to photo - found this piece of handmade pewter pad and frog - crafted by an artisan in St John's, NL, and purchased in Harrison Hot Springs, BC, several years ago - like pewter art, and have a fondness for frogs - lovely nature piece. Moved it so I could take a picture.

.. good luck souvenir with many memories - a 'billiken', often nicknamed "Alaska's good luck charm" - it's been with me a long whiIe - I purchased it at a camera & gift store in Kodiak, Alaska, way back in the winter of 1961-62 (while working at sea in the Gulf of Alaska). This one is a carved, ivory tooth. Good luck or not, I have enjoyed her company on a desk wherever I have lived for quite some time.

Another one from the vault. My "down east" vacation back in 2011. Took my new Z4 convertible down there to drive the "Cabot Trail" on Cape Breton Island. It's like a roller coaster for your car! . (if only they could get all of those damn slow RV's off of it!). Lots of hair-pin turns. It was a dream.

... cool ... saw much of it myself, but it was through work, back in the early 1990's -- stayed over there a few times, and got to see several charming towns, and enjoy some fine "down home" cooking.
