Cool shot and story,View attachment 35222
Went sailing to Angel Island in SF Bay. This was taken from inside one of the many abandoned buildings. It was kind of a rushed visit or I would have taken more time framing pictures and taking more pictures. Hope to go back just for that.
Throughout its history the island has been used by the military, immigrant processing, and health quarantine. Now it’s largely a place for hiking, biking, and camping with many of the historical buildings still standing.
Thanks. More to come from the visit but I'll keep it to the 1 post per day spirit.Cool shot and story,
Post as much as you want, not sure if that was some old rule or what but this isn't MR with a ton of users posting so nobody cares.Thanks. More to come from the visit but I'll keep it to the 1 post per day spirit.![]()

When I was a wee lad (or ever so slightly larger than wee, I had my pride), we would go to Fort Stevens park near the mouth of the Columbia and play around on a site called The Battery Russell, an old defensive installation. I also remember going on the beach and having lunch in the shadow of the wreck of the Peter Iredale – there was a picture my dad took in the fifties when the bowsprit was still intact.I thought this type thing only existed in Europe, or at least not in my relative backyard.
