Btw, am I the only one who finds updating the car’s firmware confusing? Tesla was much more straightforward.
No, it's definitely nowhere near as simple and straightforward as Tesla's system.

I'm still on 5.9.0 and there are no updates for mine, presumably because we're driving the hoopty base models.

It's a little clunky, but good/bad that BMW doesn't update that frequently. Tesla made it so easy, they pushed out all sort of updates that broke things. There was one series I recall, where it went x.01, x.02. x.03 in the course of a couple of days, hahaha, I can just see the software team, "How's this? No? OK, this? Still broke, oh something else broke, OK, this time for sure!" 🤣

I feel like Tesla is the only OEM basically using linux for it's whole car systems. Everyone else is more disparate. The NEU Klauss (sp?) cars are a unified software platform, but they haven't said if it is based on linux as well.

Did they remove the “remote software update” section in the app? Can’t find it anymore. Can’t even find where to see what version I’m on. it was there before I updated the app. *shrug*

It has poofed away :D

If you start an update in the car, it will show progress, etc., just like before.

I guess someone swung by a SuC, that was NOT a Magic Dock, and with a 3rd party adapter, was able to charge an iX.

Cool.

We don't even need the SuC network, we're still on our free EA, and I'd prefer just to use something like FPL (great rates, high speeds, super nice locations), but in some kind of special situation, knowing we can is nice.

I guess maybe this will be an official rollout very soon, updates to accommodate plug-n-charge.,

Do you happen to know if it is limited to V3/4 stalls or if it also works on V2?

They technically haven't said, "We're ready", but tons of people with BMW and adapters have been charging at SuCs, seeing so many posts like this!

Note that is not a "magic dock", that's a regular old V4 with only a "native NACS" connector (plus owner supplied NACS >> CCS adapter)

I assume you need to go into the tesla app to pay, then? (i.e. no plug n pay yet)

Tesla does plug and pay for non-tesla's? I thought you still had to select the stall and pay in app (or on the stall in EU I think they have the point of sale screens there).

Yep, Plug-and-Charge isn't active yet. In the Tesla app, stations for "Other EV" won't even show with the iX selected, people are just picking a Merc or whatever they know is already on the network (the BMW app also isn't showing SuCs with "compatible" toggled).

Sure does :) You can setup multiple P&C contracts in the app/vehicle:

And Shell Recharge is a multi-charger processor, they handle P&C for all these (note the 3rd one):

Earlier in this thread we were discussing MyQ. Turns out the scumbags at Chamberlain are removing the dry-wired connection, so most hacks to get HomeKit and other 3rd party home integration platforms to work won’t work on future garage door openers by these clowns:

That said, these mega-geniuses can’t stop this from working:
