I was on a long Amtrak ride when my non-Apple phone suddenly started giving me a warning that it was detecting an Airtag that could be spying on me. I tapped the "play sound" button, but never got a response.
What I suspect was going on was my iPad had an offline map program, You Need A Map!, running a path tracking process that charts my course and the phone was picking that up somehow (the iPad was not connected to a cellular network at the time). I have no Airtags and never got one to respond, so that is the only thing I can think of.
