For me spring is always the worst like bad jet lag for 2 days, fall is easy and I barely notice for whatever reason.

You guys got this one right IMO, CA needs to abandon it too.

I will not change the clock in the spring and if someone asks:
"sorry -I’m Canadian 😉 - you got the wrong time, no more changes” and people will be happy .

We had our final trip (3rd trip, 5th night) to HHN last weekend, technically Thu the 30th, Halloween Eve :) It rocked, where I was a little crunchy over the poor line (and specifically the Express queue) for Jason, this time? Well, genreally we're hoping for a 1/4 the post time for Express, 1/5th is fantastic. How about 1/24th :D

Jason Universe. Posted time 120 minutes, we waited for 5.
FNAF. Posted time 120 minutes, and again we waited for 5.

Terrifier was 120, didn't get the insane break via Express, but it was the same as the other 2 trips, about 15-18 minutes, still outstanding.

Did 5 houses, the 3 above, plus Galkn and Fallout. Ate, drank, had a blast.

The ILs actually met us for dinner early on Thu, they were coming back through MCO from Vegas, on Friday, we all piled in our car, we drove back to their crib in NSB (that's their extra home, they're from the PGH), where we'd also stockpiled all our Halloween decorations.

Since we are silly, this year, we're did Peanuts as our costume theme, so ...

PB&J (Old Fashioned)​

We did like 5-6 rounds of those, hahaha, which are like 2:1:1 PBWhiskey:Bourbon:Chambord

His neighborhood gets 500+ kids, off the chain with decorations, golf carts everywhere, some incredible costumes too, a few DIYs that were nuts.

Got a spell cast on my by this sexy MILF-y witch around the corner, invites me and the wife back ... umm ... :p

There was a super, perfectly creepy Samhain kid, the Dad was very cool, and loved that we got it (and the specific Trick R Treat ref), I said Brian Cox was down the street, no decorations ...

Hahaha, we ordered a ton of Popeyes at arrival, it was early, but then that evening, after we shut down, got the insane hungees, found a Mexican joint that was open and had DD delivery, it was wild, everything was BOGO. The next morning was ... 😵‍💫

HHN = Halloween Horror Nights, this is the yearly, now massive, Halloween event at Universal Parks (Orlando is the peak event), this was the 34th, ran for 48 days (we went 34 times, 5 nights), 10 houses, scare zone, special food, drink, it's amazing, more: https://halloweenhorrornights.fandom.com/wiki/Halloween_Horror_Nights_34

FNAF = Five Nights at Freddy's, this is a huge franchise/IP that started with video games, became movies, and had a house at HHN (complete with creepy animatronics and mayhem right from the movie)

IL/ILs = In-Laws, the wife's Brother and his wife, we do a lot of stuff with them, they have a second home in New Smyrna Beach (see below ;) )

NSB = New Smyrna Beach, FL

PGH = Pittsburgh, an abbreviated version that's been adopted by "locals", the wife and her family are from there, I am a Yinzer by marriage !

MCO = Location/ID for Orlando International Airport

PB&J = Peanut Butter & Jelly, like the sandwich, but in this case, an adult liquid version 😄

MILF = Umm, pass 🤣
 
So I got tickets for a British comedian after seeing a lot of his videos on my Instagram feed. His show is tonight, and I was pretty stoked, until he came out with support for a certain British Author who wrote a series about wizards and their brave stance on a hotbed topic. He didn't specify whether or not he agreed; he just said he supported their brave stance.

Now I am in a quandary about whether I should still attend. I mean, I already paid for the tickets, so it's not a boycott; I just have a very personal reason that I find his statement more than disagreeable.

My wife is also from PGH. Butler, really. I used to go there a lot on family trips, but it’s a horrible place full of racists and anti-semites, so I don’t go anymore. I can live without Quaker Steak, Giant Eagles, shmuffins, eat ‘n park and MAGA stores.

We were up a few months ago for the Nephews graduation party, had a ball, stayed downtown (aka, DON-TON), hit some great bars, walked a bridge over to the Southern Tier brewery (right next to PNC park), had great food/beer, went to the Museum of Illusion which was a BLAST, and hit the up the amazing Pittsburgh zoo and aquarium.

Heck a view from our room, stayed at the Fairmont off Market Street (super fun area):

Found out last night I need retina surgery on my right eye, and cataract surgery on both eyes. Retina surgery is thankfully nothing major - no need to lie face down for a month afterward. I’m actually kind of excited, especially since the doctor said he’s fine with me not being awake for it. Have an appointment with the cataract specialist monday - the two are going to going to coordinate everything. My vision has been getting quite bad in the last year or two, so I’m looking forward to being able to see again.

I've had many eye surgeries for a variety of ocular conditions. The lens implants were the quickest and easiest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
 
I stepped into it today. At a weekly security standup meeting, our CIO asked if we had a root cause analysis for the Oct 20th, 2025 of the AWS US-East-1 outage. I spoke up that I have read a few third-party writeups and attended a few meetings with other HigherEdu and Internet2, which confirmed what was being said in the analysis. I got volunteered to write up a memo in "Peter Rabbit English". When I asked Gemini to put my technical explanation along with the independent analysis into "Peter Rabbit English," it took me literally and created a report titled "The Fable of the Interconnected Garden: A Report on the AWS Outage of October 2025 for the Board of Trustees." :rolleyes:

Spent the rest of the day writing it the old-fashioned way.

I helped with car trips for my father's lens implants. The wait while the surgery was being done wasn't bad at all for something this precise. I think we spent more time driving than waiting.

Yeah, cataract surgery takes about 10 minutes. After my first procedure, the surgeon said I was the worst patient he'd ever had – it took a lot of medication to sedate me enough, LOL.

Retina guy promised me I can be unconscious for the right eye surgery (cataract + retina cleanup). I am going to beg the cataract surgeon to allow me the same for the left eye.

I don’t care if it’s 10 minutes or 10 seconds - I will have a panic attack as soon as I see her approaching my eye.
