What are you doing today?

That's awesome! Yeah, so much medicine and diagnostics, isn't ID-ing the issue, so much as just ruling out as much as possible.

And if you went through an MRI series, especially cervical/thoracic, nothing notable (herniated discs, spinal stenosis, arthritis), this sounds like a good diag and result!
LOL. Oh, the MRI *did* turn up stenosis and a slightly bulging disc or two, but he’s quite convinced it looks fine for a guy my age, and he’s seen worse in younger people. The reason he called me into the office today, in fact, was because he was worried I’d see the MRI dr’s notes about “moderate to severe foraminal stenosis” and draw the wrong conclusion. Stenosis is on the wrong side, anyway. So *shrug.*

Hahaha, yeah, I love when diagnostics have language like ...

"X/Y/Z is a potential issue, but given their age, it's not unexpected, and may not be problematic."

Ummm ...

Nerve related stuff is so hard to pin down, the nervous system is so complex, you can have a problem in your neck, and it makes your left toes tingle and your right ear ring.

The one Doc buddy I mentioned had to bail on a couple of night of Helldivers, because of severe vertigo, that he said, may ... or may NOT be related to his multiple (skiing related) concussions !

Welp, 7 months, one MRI, and 3 neurologist visits later, neurologist says my issues were caused by that time I took 3 vaccines at once in April. I won’t be doing that again.

He says it should clear itself up within 2 years from when it started, so i’m looking forward to Apr. 2027.
Just got my COVID vaccine today but am going to wait until next week for the flu jab because of this post. My wife opted to get both at the same time but I always have an adverse reaction to one or the other so there’s no point in rushing it.

We've been putting off a trip to Japan because of our cat with her chronic conditions (which included a pretty severe case of separation anxiety). Now that she's passed, we've decided to not put it off, and will be going in the spring. The plan is to do a bunch of day trips out of Asakusa in Tokyo, and maybe a couple multi-day trips, totalling about 3 weeks. We've got the tickets reserved, along with a hotel right along a major train line and next to a whole slew of small shops and restaurants. Really looks like we will be spoiled with choice for local food/etc. One place I do want to see is Akihabara. I've got a bit of a collection of old Super Famicom (SNES) carts, and there's still a few from Japan I'd like to add. Also want to see if there's some interesting vintage camera lenses to add to my collection.

The bigger question I've got for myself at the moment is that I don't have a passport, and so no idea how getting one is going to play out with the shutdown happening. But as long as I can get it issued by spring I should be okay. I've already got everything together, and just need to keep my appointment with a local post office for the photo and notarizing the forms.

Flew to Nashville today. Yea, I know I could have driven, but since I'll be doing all the driving while we're here over the next few days, I didn't want to push it. Gonna see some family asked relax (I hope).

Sorry to hear about your cat.

Have you been to Japan before? Because, quite frankly, while Asakusa is fun for a few hours, multiple days there would get tiresome really fast. It's overcrowded and, frankly, mostly artificial. It won't be difficult to fill three weeks with lots of interesting places, though, especially if you're willing to do some rail travel away from Tokyo.

We're still planning out some of the longer excursions now that we have a base camp of sorts, but we do want to focus a bit on Tokyo and its outskirts at first. Kyoto and Hiroshima are two places high on my list.

What's that drive, like 4-5 hours (depending on your specific location in the 'Bama)?

Heck, if you don't need to lug stuff there/back, I totally get it. I don't know that we'll do the ATL drive again, even with a super comfy, quiet vehicle, that's such a chore.

Been a minute since we've been to the rooftop, it was glorious on Friday 🙂

It's approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes according to Google.

Did a 5k on Saturday morning, the Jailbreak 5K, hahaha, it's kind of a themed run, Halloween, pursued by the law, across our bridge :)
Will be headed back there for Thanksgiving. No set dates yet. Definitely driving though.

Ugh man, glad I chose just the COVID shot today because it’s hitting me hard with fever and chills this time around. Of course my wife got both and is fine.
It was hard for me too : I had both flu and covid together -Pfizer - last week and it triggered high blood pressure like it did in the past Moderna. I was trying to avoid it, but it seems this time I had the same reaction. Next time I’ll do it separately
Plus it left me with a lot of migraines and today I’m seeing a neurologist. When I had COVID in 2024 I had terrible headaches for a week and then several times every month. Probably it’s a leftover from covid , sic.

Oh nice!

We're doing Dis for Thanksgiving (Yacht Club again I think), then home for December "the holidays", though we have plans to stay downtown for a few nights, just to be able to walk out and enjoy the Old City.

We're going to enjoy the hell out of this area while we're still here, but, quite frankly, we can't wait to move :D

I had long covid symptoms (headache, brain fog) - the headache lasted 4 months before I was able to see a specialist and get relief. (vitamins, funny enough)

One thing that they said in the long covid clinic - virtually everyone that has had lasting effect has low iron. Considering how much meat I eat (and I'm a blood donor) - I was shocked at that. It turns out the hemoglobin test that Canadian Blood Services does isn't actually a true reflection of your iron levels. :(

Oh - and I got both at the same time this time. My shoulder was sore for a few days. Luckily no real side effects.

Sorry to hear that, it’s really the thing I was trying to avoid myself, but I still had really bad symptoms for two days. This time around it hit me really hard for whatever reason so I’m glad I just did the one. Everything is resolved now and I’ll be getting my flu jab today.

Sorry for you too! The flu shot shouldn’t be so bad 🤞
It’s covid that is pesky one way or another
