Anora (2024)- Best Picture 2024. I saw it described as a comedy, and while there are some comedic elements, I would not describe it as a feel good comedy. Anora is a sex worker in a night club, who falls in with the son of a Russian oligarch. She agrees to be his girlfriend for a week. They fly to Vegas, he proposes to her, they marry, and once his family finds out, the rest is a mostly a dose of reality as the family, works to reverse the marriage. A slog to get through.

Not a fun, or feel good story. Mikey Madison deserves best actress, but the last half is not an enjoyable sequence of events, a movie I’m glad I did not see in the theater.

My critique, talky talky songs and nothing iconic, say like Happy, Let It Go, under the Sea or Kiss The Girl. This seems way to DEI for Trump’s Kennedy center. Looking forward to Part 2.

I’m perplexed why this good story with a great atmosphere, complimented by outstanding atmospheric music was reviewed so poorly.
