I thought there was already a general Fox News depository thread, but I guess not. Anyhow...

Yikes. Her father was an abusive alcoholic Nazi sympathizer with a copy of Mein Kampf on the living room bookshelf.

How could you not know?

The Daily Beast reported that it spoke to nine network staffers and insiders who felt that the court filings further damaged the reputation of the network’s news division and made it appear as though the network made decisions based on keeping viewers rather than disseminating the truth.
“We are not happy,” a Fox News reporter told The Daily Beast. Another employee, a news producer, said it was a “really bad time to be working here.”

One reporter told the news outlet that “it’s pretty damn clear the motivation is the money-based machine on the opinion side that drives all their business decisions, that drives a lot of their programming decisions.”
Another veteran journalist reportedly said he felt “incredibly angry” that the reputations of legitimate news people were being “dragged through the mud because of the buffoonish and dangerous actions of a few during that election.”

There is no “legitimate news” at Fox anymore. Calling people like Bret Baier “hard news” or “real news” has been a stretch for some time, and he was caught up in this pandering to Trump as well.

If your crisis is that you are a news network that reported factual news, that’s a problem.

I feel bad for the folks who just work there, but they had to know something like this was coming, unless they were just as brainwashed as their viewers.

Looking at the same lineup of the same sycophants spouting the same lies on that network even as we speak, I doubt they’ve learned anything.

Here comes round 2. It's about time they were held accountable for their false reporting.

Unfortunately for us and Fox there are already alternatives available for people to get their lying extremist “news” from. Fox along with other rightwing media and Republican politicians have created this monster over decades that they no longer have control over. Toss in the successful rolling back of social safety nets, regulations, and worker’s protections and rights and you have a lot of desperate pissed off people easily pointed away from the actual cause of their problems.

Hannity, Ingraham, Carlson et al intentionally sowed discord and anger, dividing the country and empowering extremist elements all in the service of making money. I understand that the Dominion and Smartmatic cases are civil cases and I guess it would be tricky to bring criminal charges given the 1st Amendment, but isn't what they did equivalent to yelling fire in a crowded theater? They knowingly spread false claims about the 2020 election, contributing to the Jan. 6 violence.

In kind of a chicken or the egg scenario, whose fault is it...the liars or people who will only consume "news" from liars? As Fox has even stated, if they don't continue to lie to their viewers the viewers will just go elsewhere to get their lies. Killing Fox isn't going to stop the bigger problem.

@Cmaier how much “fun” are Fox’s lawyers having right now? 😉 How much fun! are Dominion’s? 😈

So far the judge hasn’t done much, but this has the potential to be pretty big. There are a couple of famous cases where the judge has just ruled for one side or the other based on discovery violations. Early in my career, we were all abuzz about this case: https://www.ediscoverylaw.com/2008/...tions-program-and-refers-investigation-of-po/

Trump claimed in his interview with Carlson that people working in the courthouse were crying over how unfairly he was being treated. One of the shows, I forget which, showed many clips where Trump was claiming "big, strong, powerful men" were crying for some reason related to him. And of course Carlson, who has said about Trump that he "hates him passionately," just sits there and says nothing, knowing it's a lie.

Trump and Carlson have a mutually destructive relationship. It's the battle for least credible source supremacy. Someday, if not already, they'll be the 2 options of the "who said it?" insanity game.

Ultimately, both. If someone gets disconnected enough that they need sources that validate their views, that’s on them. If a company is knowingly peddling misinformation because they know its how they get paid, that’s effectively malpractice in the journalism profession. If a business cannot survive through honest work, then there’s no legitimate argument that the business should survive.

It’s a bit of a chicken/egg scenario too. You don’t get this far off the rails without the two sides (producer and consumer) feeding off each other.

As Mark Twain is commonly paraphrased: "It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled."

Diehard MAGAs will overlook Trump's incitement of an attack on the Capitol, his stealing of classified documents, his deplorable personal behavior, etc. rather than admit to themselves that maybe they put their support behind the wrong guy.

You forgot one thing - He kept Hillary out of the WH. That is reason enough to overlook some things. Just as the Dems do with Biden because he got Trump out.
