Does yalls BMW's come to a complete stop when using TACC? The TACC in my wifes 2019 Honda only goes down to 35 before shutting off.
My Ariya will come to a complete stop, if necessary. If it slows down but does not fully stop, it will resume travel, but a full stop kills cruise. I wish it would give more distance ahead and not stop like a normal driver but try to calculate the correct reduced speed for not having tg stop, as I do, but it works well enough.

I’ve done it many times on Page Mill Road here which is a surface street. Technically that’s in the Assisted Driving mode - I am never in the pure TACC mode because there would be no benefit to disabling steering assist, etc., so it’s possible that cars equipped without assisted driving behave differently.
Will it stop at stop signs and red traffic lights?

Nice. I think we would need a newer than 2019 Passport to get a system that can come to a complete stop.

I don’t *think* so, but it certainly is aware of them because it throws up an alert and a chime if it thinks I’m going to blow through one. Never tried to see what happens if I go for it, but i don’t think it stops.

My car does not recognize those things, but she can see speed limit signs, and I could set cruise to adjust itself to the speed limit. Sadly, she does not read curve speeds and is not good about adjusting speed for them. She has automatic high-beam dimming but sometimes sees a stoplight as a car. Still, conservative use of high beams is probably preferable.

100$/month for lane keeping? WTH?
I don't know the specifics here but in defense of Tesla I have personally driven with FSD and in many cases it's excellent, my guess here is there's just no getting around regulations and safety is still a real issue.

it includes the full FSD, i guess? But, yeah, just to get lanekeeping you now gotta buy the whole shebang. Monthly.
Why wouldn't they call it that then? I'm wondering if they're killing off the feature entirely.

My car needs lines for lane keeping and cannot adjust speed for curves, so if they wanted to charge me for that, I will just drive her myself. If she had IR cameras or something of the sort, she might be able to calculate where the road is and where the centerline is supposed to be without needing lines. If she had that, and better curve speed management, and could comprehend left-turn lane sweep-downs, a subscription could possibly be worth it. Add in event anticipation (driving up there instead of right here) and you might be getting closer to useful.

Wow, glad I got out while the getting was good.

It is weird, they chose to change the name in China. So we know they could have done the same here.

The only thing I can think of is they don't want to maintain the old V11 stack on new cars anymore (iirc the cybertuck never got basic AP either).

Navigate on Autopilot City Streets (what we call FSD) is decent. Navigate on Autopilot Highway (what we call EAP) was pretty cool assuming it thought you were on a highway.

I don't agree that they should have removed the feature altogether, they should have changed the name. They could have just called it Autosteer.

With Nvidia having the same capabilities (as FSD v13/14) coming to Lucid and Mercedes this year, Tesla is going to have to do something pricing wise.

IMO this is where it shined and had the most potential but the fact that you still must have hands on the wheel and eyes on the road when in most cases it's unnecessary renders it pointless. Either way you're driving the car at all times.

Yeah it is a tradeoff. The current version of FSD for HW4 cars only requires you to look out the window. It won't nag for hands. What is going to bite Tesla in the butt is v14 doesn't gripe about cell phone usage like v13 did. I suspect NHTSA will have some questions about that.

That's a good start, these systems should be designed to make your experience easier. Personally, I find the system in the BMW far more user friendly and flexible than Tesla, it feels more like an assistant than a babysitter. No city driving (FSD) type of thing but that never worked in the Tesla either, just makes cruising on the highway that much better.

I think you got rid of your Tesla before v12 (HW3) was out, right?

Possibly? TBH I never kept track of versions. I just know that I stopped attempting to use any of their FSD automation months before getting rid of it because it was nowhere near ready for primetime.

Yeah HW3 and older folks should get lifetime FSD transfers in my opinion. V12 is just okay on that hardware, not anything that would convert someone to a believer. V14 is actually pretty good comparatively. Since 14.2 I've had FSD drive 2700 out of 2800 miles.

To be fair I believe the technology is there and has been for years but their hands are tied with regulation, I mean remember when those two people were caught sleeping in their Tesla on the freeway way back when? They turned out fine as well but all it takes is a few accidents out of millions of drivers to tighten the screws for everyone.
