LA Wildfires

I hope they catch the idiot that was flying their drone in the no-fly zone and damaged one of the water bombers.

You know you're a moron when...
As someone who flies a drone all the time I couldn't agree more. Not only did they have a no fly zone or temporary flight restriction (TFR) in place, which bucking that alone could land you in jail, but equally as egregious is interfering with emergency services. If they find this pilot they should make an example of them.

Governor Newsom's letter to trump, asking him to come out to California and witness the devastation first hand. Looking forward to seeing how/if he responds (doubtful).

... "As you prepare to assume the presidency once more, I invite you to come to California again — to meet with the Americans affected by these fires, see the devastation firsthand, and join me and others in thanking the heroic firefighters and first responders who are putting their lives on the line. In the spirit of this great country, we must not politicize human tragedy or spread disinformation from the sidelines. Hundreds of thousands of Americans — displaced from their homes and fearful for the future — deserve to see all of us working in their best interests to ensure a fast recovery and rebuild." ...

It's a nice attempt but agree that it won't move him, he's too busy raging about how it's Newsom's fault. Dude's been warning about climate change in CA for years and is always met with Conservative hate when does. Then when it actually happens they point the finger at him. SMH.

I like the last two paragraphs where he's first praising Biden, and then in the next essentially daring trump to step up. For all of the American public to see.

CalFire identifies 3 other fires, the Kenneth fire near Calabasas (1050 acres, suspected arson, just NW of the Palisades fire), the Hurst fire (800 acres) near San Fernando, both somewhat small, and the fairly large Eaton fire (14k acres, probably power lines) in the hills north of Pasadena.

yep it's pretty nuts. i've never seen anything like this and I've been in the area since 1974. my house is okay, about 3 miles from Venice beach, but the devastation in the palisades and parts of malibu are indescribable. so much is just gone. it's hard to get your brain wrapped around the amount of loss. I really feel for the wildlife and domestic animals that were left behind.

Would you be so kind to explain why it is ignorant? I mean if you are going to call me stupid, I think I deserve to know why.
If anyone else wants to take the troll bait and respond you're welcome to, just know he's been banned from this thread.

Again, if one doesn't want to follow known, peer reviewed science from actual scientists, then that's up to them. However, we will not be playing a role in that on this site.

He did. And he is correct.
Fixed it for ya, ;).

FYI, I cannot grasp how anyone cannot see climate change is real. January is usually NOT fire season in this part of CA. Thanks to climate change it is now. It's not just us. Change has happened worldwide.

Is it because your daughter now lives in CA, you feel you're an expert on our state? I honestly don't understand. SO Cal IS a tinder box due to virtually no rain

Los Angeles usually gets several inches of rain by now, halfway into the rainy season, but it’s only recorded a fifth of an inch downtown since July, its second driest period in almost 150 years of record-keeping. The rest of Southern California is just as bone-dry.

It's already painful to watch the news and hear your friends, not the trolls and the 🍊
Like putting salt on wounds. I can't.
Maybe it's because I'm not feeling too well- kidney stone- and I'm not in the mood for extra

forests always have litter that's how they work. so who would pay for the thousands and thousands of people it would take to remove all the litter? where would you put it? wait I know burn it.
Me, I'd like to take a page from the middle-east (in terms of punishments) - those who litter in our vast, natural beauty - first offence is 5 lashes (that's with a whip with those unfamiliar), next offence, we take their dominant hand, the next, their head.

It would only take a few to stop this horrible problem.

We're blessed to live on the west coast. Most beautiful area in the world...well...it is up here. :D. Sickens me that people deface it that way.

Are you still in California?

fooferdoggie is not talking about human-generated gabage, he is talking about fallen branches, leaves, bones, bear crap and all that other litter created by the forest itself and its denizens.
