MacBook Neo begins to sell out

Just like Roller I’m not in the market for one but I’ll want to go see one. May try swinging by the local AASP tomorrow. Guess there’s good odds they won’t have one to show. But I actually really quite like citrus. Indigo cool too but I like the boldness of colors like citrus and cosmic orange

MacBook Neo has completely sold out in all configurations.

MacBook Neo is indeed the glitch in the matrix, and users have overwhelmingly responded.

It's funny that the ads I've seen mostly focus on the colors. Makes me think of the colored iMac collection in 1999.

I watched Marques Brownlee’s review yesterday. He was impressed, and I think his ratings of the Neo’s suitability for different use cases at the end were fair. The people over at MR complaining about memory, the A18 Pro, and the SSD aren’t the target market.

Agreed. I honestly think the majority of people complaining about the ram haven’t actually used an 8GB Mac recently. For my job, even 16GB is constrained. It works well enough but more definitely helps. But that’s the key part. 16GB is workable even if not optimal for my job. And that’s 2 iOS simulators, 2 android emulators, Xcode, android studio and about half a dozen other utilities simultaneously. Huge memory hugging programs. For the kind of stuff I’d do privately on a laptop; 8 is perfectly fine. It’s also more than enough for my parents and my oldest nephew (the youngest too but he’s also too young to be relevant).

Only point of complaint I have about MKBHD’s video is the rating for “coders”
When he admits to not really knowing about the field I don’t understand he even evaluated it from that perspective. It’s also such a big category that I don’t feel any singular rating makes sense. Games programmers are also “coders” and would have s horrible time here. People automating work with bash and python scripts would be plenty happy I wager.
Really the category I think he meant for it to be is “beginners trying to learn programming” and for that the overall rating is valid and also easier for someone who doesn’t know much about the field to evaluate

Three ports for casuals under the sky,

Six cores for vibe coders in their home studio,

8 GB for mortal users doomed to die,

One Macbook, for students on the go,

In the land of Apple, where the markups lie,

One Macbook to rule them all, one Macbook to find them,

One device to sync them all, and in the ecosystem to bind them,

In the land of Apple, where the markups lie.

Inspired by the signature poem of the Lord of the Rings.
