Nintendo Switch 2

Really hinges on "Do you want to play Nintendo games?"

Yeah, that's really it for us, the 1st party Nintendo games: Mario Kart, Zelda, Mario Party, we've played those so much, had so much fun playing together. :)

Looks like the preorders have been delayed, because, well, you know ...

Not a huge thing, this was intended as an Xmas gift, but hopefully N won't walk back on saying the price won't change.

First it was COVID, now it's tariffs. Nintendo can't seem to get a break.

Sorry that Trump has to infiltrate every thread with bad news but it's the world we live in now.

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged."

I feel a bit like Golum in lord of the rings.... "give it here my love, I wants the switch. I needs it."

Wonder if they will do a patched version of Zelda breadth of the wild for it or Tears of the Kingdom ?

well, since I arrived in florida last evening and was up anyway, i placed a preorder via walmart. I hope i don’t get in trouble with my wife.

Any additional charges from tariffs? I know it's finally hitting the Chinese drone maker market and prices are now astronomical.

no, they stuck to the announced price. They may raise it in the future, of course.

I went to buy an Anker powerbank the other day, and noticed it now costs 50% more than when I bought it a year ago. So tariffs are definitely kicking in.

Accessories cost more, games and system pricing stayed the same. Of course all subject to change.

I failed to get one on all the online options. Was successful going to GameStop in person and ordering one. Now to figure out if they are going to do a midnight launch and if I want to take my son to one.

The internet seems dissatisfied with these specifications.

Got my Switch 2 last night. Took about an hour to update the system and migrate all the data off my original Switch. Then it took many hours to download the new Mario Kart and 5 other original switch games from the e-store, so I didn’t get to actually play anything until this morning. Mario Kart World is a lot of fun! They always nail Mario Kart.

Despite the bigger size it feels great in the hand. Weight and weight distribution are great. Bigger screen is great. Feels very solid. Magnetic controllers snap on and off great.

I’m waiting on a couple controllers so I can try playing in dock mode - I don’t particularly like joycons, though these work better for me than the original ones (i have big hands). Ordered an 8bitdo and the Nintendo pro controller. Also ordered an sd express card - the file sizes on the native switch 2 games are pretty huge.

Did you go to the SF store?

I went ahead and pulled the trigger :) Figured use the invite we just received (pre-registered with Nintendo), we know we'll want one at some point in the future, even if stays boxed until Xmas. Never know how manufacturing, availability, even prices (due to tariffs ...) might ultimately affect getting one. Now it's done  Maybe it'll get opened for Xmas in July :p

Will definitely be upgrading these to S2 specific versions!

About the only games I play are the Zelda games. But I usually can't finish them as the last part is too hard for my old reflexes. But they have so much gameplay. I usually need a guide, though. But I liked this one the best, I think.

Breath of the Wild is finally playable.

Yay.

edit:
If you have a nintendo subscription (plus, or deluxe or whatever its called) the Zelda switch 2 game upgrades are included in that.
