PARC becomes part of SRI

It was announced today that xerox parc (which was spun off into just plain PARC some time ago) had been merged into SRI.

I drive by PARC every morning and each morning, when I look at the sign, I’m reminded of what was invented there.

Of course, SRI is no slouch, though some will make jokes about the current state of Siri (for which SRI is not entirely to blame).

Still, end of an era. But perhaps the beginning of a better one. We will see.

Growing up and working not far from both PARC and SRI, it was always interesting hearing about what was researched and developed coming out of PARC and SRI over the years. They both have a rich history; especially pursuing technologies that ultimately came together in Apple's Mac.
