Wasn’t really complicated. If you want the courts to give you bankruptcy protection, you have to show them that you don’t have enough money to pay all your debts.

Not to be “that guy,” but, as far as I know, in every jurisdiction in the U.S., you don’t need to exchange money for attorney-client privilege to attach. There may be privilege if the client has a belief that the person he’s talking to is his or her lawyer, and the discussion involves legal advice, regardless of whether there is a written agreement, money has changed hands, etc. (Of course, written agreements, etc., are evidence that can support the argument). So the whole “give me $20 and then you can tell me anything” is silly. (Plus, it only works if the conversation is about legal advice, isn’t in furtherance of a crime, etc.)
This is why lawyers never want to give legal advice on the web, always constantly say “I’m not giving you legal advice,” etc. We don’t want people to think we are their lawyers when we aren’t.

I'm not a doofus. I see BS tech stuff on TV all the time and notice it. But not being a lawyer, I never had any idea that was just TV nonsense. If you believe that "You learn something new every day", I do believe I'm now entitled to a nap.

I too thought money had to be exchanged, so don't feel all too bad on that issue. However, I did think there should be some sort of evidence to "prove" so-and-so is my lawyer, not just because I said so and I passed them a $20 from the bar stool.Be that guy all you want. that we fail to give enough consideration to.
As Rudy Giuliani’s daughter, I’m unfortunately well-suited to remind Americans of just how calamitous being associated with Trump can be, even for those who are convinced he’s on their side. Watching my dad’s life crumble since he joined forces with Trump has been extraordinarily painful, both on a personal level and because his demise feels linked to a dark force that threatensto once again consume America.

Before he went totally insane he was actually someone the city of NY loved, he was on the side of what was right and cleaned up the city. Yes, controversial, but still had the heart of the people. What a sad way to go out.
