Heard an interview with a neuroscientist who knows Musk (and other tech bros). He said Musk’s addiction to social media explains 90% of his neurosis. He didn’t buy Twitter over free speech concerns. He bought it to make it his own plaything which is obvious to everybody by now. He laments that Musk is going to be running around the White House snorting ketamine while attempting to form policy.
 
Scott Pressler spent months turning out the MAGA vote and registering people in Pennsylvania. The Gay Republican is a true believer who breathlessly reports every conspiracy and lie. Now that the election is over, MAGAts have gone from singing their praises to eviscerating them online for being gay.

He registered 180K Amish which may have been the difference in PA.

He had previously been criticized for going into neighborhoods and cleaning up trash. Not sure why anyone would criticize that, but they did.
 


This was posted elsewhere on a reason MAGA will fail. It's a simple representation on what people think the inequality is, what they think a better spread would be, and what the reality is. Very eye opening. Keep in mind it was posted 12 years ago. No doubt Trump made it even worse and will continue to.

It would be interesting to see exactly where you are on the graph, but even if somebody goes "Meh, I'm fine where I'm at and don't really care about that" there's one thing that is crystal clear. The reason you don't have more money is absolutely not because of the people on the left of you on the graph. Nobody in good faith would come to that conclusion.

Similarly I heard a story about a Latino voter who voted for Trump and on a recent shopping trip some random person told him that him and his wife would be getting deported soon. He found this shocking. Expect more of that, friend.

I do think that’s an important question to be answered, but you will probably get a lot of general "they don’t understand my problems" deflections with no follow up. Let’s say they don’t. What specifically don’t they understand? How have they made it worse? What could they do better? Are you aware of this thing they did that sounds like it did or could help you?

Too many people from top to bottom are left off the hook by not demanding a substantive answer.
 
FUN FACT: Payroll is only 5% of the national budget. You could fire literally everybody and it wouldn't make much of a dent. Yes, there is bloat and inefficiency problems, but just unilaterally chopping headcount isn't going to help efficiency and do very little about the budget.
 


I think this is where Eric and some other members of the forum are right now, although put a little more calm and thought out. We'll see how it plays out, but I agree they are never going to accept "I told you so" from our side and when they wake up amongst themselves it will be revealed that Trump and the oligarchs no longer need them or their vote. Their plans are completely incompatible with democracy. Some are actually ok with that completely believing their economic salvation is just around the corner. It won't be. That's not in the plan.
 
Right wing media succeeded in their gaslighting of half the voting population, period. This is the real problem, and it’s borderline unsolvable in this country. They’ll free-speech their way to unlimited lying and will not stop until it’s unprofitable.

He will be rewarded greatly for his work - by being attacked, mocked and having his rights rolled back.

Regretful Trump voters will be the medicine that gets me through the next four years of this freakish cult show.

The steady diet of Big Macs and KFC at 78 may put us all out of our misery much sooner, then we'd have JD Vance and I've been saying all along that we have to be ready for it.
